Role Summary:
We are looking for a driven and ambitious Finance Manager to join our Finance & Operations team as ACTO enters into its next phase of growth. As the right-hand person to the VP of finance, you’ll have the opportunity to work in many areas of Finance including budgeting, monthly reporting and auditing.
In this role, you will:
- Manage, streamline and maintain a financial reporting process to identify key SaaS metrics and operating levers to measure and improve overall company performance and capital efficiency
- Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning for the organization
- Work cross-functionally to ensure data used to develop budgets and determine company performance is clean and accurate
- Execute monthly close process and prepare timely and accurate consolidated financial statements and supporting documents, including the review of journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by their direct report
- Prepare monthly financial statements and assist management team in analyzing financial results and understanding variances between budget vs actuals
- Prepare quarterly/annual reports for investors
- Manage the day-to-day accounting operations including accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, payroll, and billing/revenue recognition
- Design and implement effective internal controls and processes to ensure the accuracy of financial reporting, integrity of data, and safeguarding of assets
- Manage and comply with government reporting requirements and tax filings, including the review of HST, sales tax returns, annual payroll, consultant and stock reporting forms, and coordinate with external tax accountants to complete annual review of financial statements and prepare income tax returns
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance with GAAP
- Assist with treasury functions and cash flow management
- Assist management in raising financing to fund operations
- Update and maintain integrated multi-year financial model for capital raising activities and internal budgeting purposes
- Evaluate all insurance needs, prepare annual renewals, and coordinate with broker
- Manage annual NTR and T2 filing requirements and eventual external review or audit engagement
- Manage the company’s US subsidiary to ensure compliance with local business and tax regulations
- Manage the SR&ED process with external providers and engineering team
- Manage annual financial audit by working closely with external audit team
- Work on ad-hoc projects as the need arises
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, with a CA or CPA designation
- Minimum 4 years of experience in accounting, with experience managing a team; prior big 4 public accounting experience a plus
- Experience in corporate fundraising from VC firms and debt providers a plus
- Strong technical understanding and application of IFRS
- Strong financial reporting skills with experience consolidating foreign subsidiaries/currencies
- Advanced working knowledge of Quickbooks Online, Microsoft Excel and GSuite
- Strong financial acumen, problem solving and analytical skills
- Excellent organization, time management and self-management skills
- Growth mindset with a willingness to explore, take calculated risks, and learn new technologies and skills while streamlining processes and eliminating redundancies
- Self-starter with the ability to pick up new concepts quickly and work effectively in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment
- Strong relationship building abilities and a keen instinct for negotiation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
