We’re looking for a strategic and highly technical Director of Engineering to champion our multidisciplinary product development. This role is the operational engine of our engineering department, responsible for aligning hardware, software, and firmware teams to deliver exceptional products that meet customer requirements, stringent compliance standards and scale seamlessly into manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

Engineering Leadership & Execution

  • Champion a multidisciplinary engineering approach across our Class 2 (low-voltage) and Class 4 (fault-managed) power product lines.
  • Provide strategic leadership and mentorship to hardware, software, and firmware engineering team leads.
  • Streamline engineering DevOps and workflows to maximize efficiency across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Take full ownership of the engineering roadmap, driving accountability to ensure all hardware and software milestones are delivered on time.

Product Lifecycle & Compliance

  • Own product lifecycle management (PLM) and program management frameworks from concept to commercialization.
  • Oversee product compliance and certification lifecycle management (including UL and regulatory standards).
  • Champion Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and design for scalability, working closely with operations and supply chain managers.

Strategy, Reporting & IP

  • Deliver executive-level reporting and updates to leadership, translating complex engineering execution to executive audiences.
  • Drive predictability in engineering cycles, translating complex R&D initiatives into reliable delivery schedules for stakeholders.
  • Drive cross-functional stakeholder communication and alignment across the organization.
  • Manage SR&ED technical documentation and reporting to maximize R&D capital.
  • Participate in and oversee Intellectual Property (IP) creation and management.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams in a hardware & software product company.
  • Background managing both hardware and software/firmware engineering teams simultaneously.
  • Deep knowledge of product compliance, certification, and regulatory standards. Ideally in products for lighting, telecom, or data center markets.
  • Hands-on experience with PLM and program management frameworks.
  • Strong DFM mindset with proven experience scaling prototype products to mass manufacturing.
  • Experience with SR&ED documentation and IP management.
  • Exceptional communication skills—highly capable of translating engineering execution to executive audiences and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Comfortable operating with agility in a fast-paced, high-growth scale-up environment.

  • Annual starting salary of $100,000–$150,000 (thoughtfully determined based on experience and skillset).
