Who we are…
CERT Systems Inc (CERT) is on a mission to transform the way the world's most important chemicals are made. Our breakthrough electrochemical route to convert captured CO2 into valuable fuels and chemical feedstocks means that we can help the planet avoid over 500 million tonnes of emissions by 2040.
Who YOU are…
You are a well-rounded engineer who cannot wait to start designing, testing and upgrading mechatronics systems.
A start-up environment is exciting to you because you'll be exposed to a wider range of technical challenges, as well as take charge of your own work.
You are also mission-driven; you care about climate change, and you want to use your skills to help be part of a global solution.
The successful candidate will:
- Design, build and iterate on CERT's electrochemical cell test platforms.
- Identify areas for improvement in current electrochemical research and fabrication processes, and collaborate with fellow researchers to implement improvements.
- Test, troubleshoot and maintain electrochemical systems, workshop equipment and Gas Chromatographs.
- Utilize CAD and 3D printing for lab requirements such as mounts, enclosures and electrochemical cell plates
- Ensure consistent operation of control systems including troubleshooting, calibration and procurement of sensors (e.g., pressure transducers), actuators (e.g., mass flow controllers) and DAQ systems
- Ensure the reliability of system electronics and perform soldering, wiring and circuit redesign as required.
- Contribute to software development for data handling, controls, firmware and user interfaces.
- Assist with the collection, storage, processing and analytics of CERT's experimental data.
- Assist with documentation on maintenance and operating procedures for all mechatronics systems.
- Assist researchers with experimental setup including piping and tubing assembly and installation.
Required skills:
- Have excellent marks from mechanical/mechatronics, electrical, chemical, nanotechnology or related programmes.
- Demonstrate excellent teamwork, communication, problem-solving, organizational and time management skills.
- Wet lab and electrochemistry experience is a bonus, but not required as long as the applicant is willing to learn about this field.
