Founding Chief Technology Officer — Clash Nexus AI
Location: Southern Ontario | Remote
Compensation: Equity-based; no current salary
Clash Nexus AI is seeking a hands-on Founding CTO to lead the technology behind our construction-document analysis platform.
We are a late-seed-stage startup, and our founders are not currently drawing salaries. Compensation at this stage is through equity. Applicants must be able to support themselves financially for the next 3–6 months. This timeframe is an estimate, not a guaranteed salary commencement date.
The opportunity
Reporting to the Founder and CEO, you will take technical ownership of an existing platform and play a central role in product and technology decisions. This position combines technical strategy with substantial hands-on engineering.
Your remit will cover the codebase, infrastructure, data model, customer-facing software, and AI drawing-review pipeline. The platform’s capabilities include document intake, OCR and text extraction, drawing identification, rules-based analysis, clash detection, evidence validation, reporting, scope ledgers, revision tracking, and cost estimation as developed.
Your responsibilities
-
Own the technical architecture and engineering roadmap, with accountability for reliability, observability, security, and scalability.
-
Write and review production code, and establish effective testing, release controls, CI/CD, rollback procedures, and incident response.
-
Develop transparent, reproducible model evaluations covering precision, recall, false positives, missed issues, and supporting evidence.
-
Manage cloud and AI provider costs while overseeing privacy, tenant isolation, access controls, and disaster recovery.
-
Document the platform and reduce reliance on individual contributors.
-
Supervise contractors and build the engineering team as hiring is approved.
-
Support customer pilots, product prioritization, technical due diligence, and fundraising discussions.
What you bring
-
A degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
-
Demonstrated hands-on software development experience, including the ability to understand, write, debug, and maintain production code.
-
Strong engineering fundamentals and the judgment to evaluate AI-generated code. Experience limited to prompting or “vibe coding” is not sufficient.
-
The ability to balance immediate product needs with long-term technical priorities.
-
An independent, accountable approach suited to an early-stage founding team.
Applicants must be based in Southern Ontario and able to work remotely.
