As part of this transformation, the Manager, Clinical Research Services, will play a foundational role in building and shaping our clinical trials and research services. This is a unique opportunity to help establish infrastructure, processes, and partnerships that will enable high-quality, impactful research within an urban academic community hospital setting.
Reporting to the Director, Research Operations & Business Development, the Manager will be responsible for building a clinical research service program to enable and sustain a growing clinical trials and clinical research portfolio. In this capacity, the Manager will be responsible for identifying and establishing industry partnerships, building the clinical research services team, overseeing and supporting clinical trial study selection, feasibility reviews, study start up, and study conduct including implementation, monitoring, and audit coordination.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in health sciences or related field, required
- Regulated health professional (e.g., RN, RPN), preferred
- Phlebotomy certification or equivalent, preferred
- Post-graduate certificate or credential (e.g., CCRP) in clinical research, preferred
QUALIFICATIONS
Technical and Functional Expertise:
- Minimum of seven (7) years of related experience working in complex and large organizations in research or a similar role.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in clinical research, ideally in a hospital or academic research setting.
- At least three (3) years’ experience supervising clinical trial staff including Research Coordinators and Research Assistants.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and adherence to applicable regulatory frameworks, including TCPS 2, ICH/GCP, Declaration of Helsinki, Health Canada Division 5, FDA Code of Federal Regulations, required.
- Strong capabilities in budget development, financial planning, forecasting, reconciliation, and reporting to support effective research operations and scientific programs.
- Demonstrated understanding of research data management principles, privacy legislation, and data governance standards, ensuring secure, compliant, and responsible handling of research data and digital systems.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated experience recruiting, training, and managing staff across scientific programs
- High proficiency with Microsoft 365 and electronic research tools (e.g., REDCap™, CTO Stream, SPSS™), with the ability to learn new systems as needed.
