Highlights include: Named to the Global Cleantech 100 for four consecutive years (2022–2025); $1M Grand Prize winner of the Impact Canada Charging the Future Challenge; Awarded a $1.6M grant from Breakthrough Energy Solutions Canada; Secured over $12M in funding across three projects from Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC); Recipient of a USD $1.3M grant from the California Energy Commission.Opportunity: e-Zinc is seeking an experienced and talented Mechanical Engineer to join the Product Development team.Position Scope and ResponsibilitiesDesign & Analysis- Lead mechanical design of battery cells and packs, including enclosures, interconnects, and structural components- Design external enclosures for DC-BESS units, including component placement, fixing/racking strategy, routing, and IP compliance- Create detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and BOMs in SolidWorks- Conduct tolerance stack-ups and FEA to validate integrity and performance- Select and qualify materials and components against thermal, structural, environmental, and regulatory requirementsCross-Functional Integration- Collaborate with electrical, controls, electrochemical, and manufacturing teams to meet functional, integration, and DFM requirements- Lead discussions with external vendors and fabricators for custom components and assemblies- Drive engineering sample assembly and participate in hands-on functional testingEngineering Process- Lead and contribute to design reviews, DFMEA, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement- Drive development of test fixtures, jigs, and assembly processes to support validation- Support safety and compliance testing to regulatory standards (UL, IEC, CE)- Champion the full engineering cycle via integration of internal, field, and commercial feedbackQualifications (Required)- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline- 5+ years of mechanical design experience (energy storage, automotive, robotics, or industrial systems)- Demonstrated expertise in high-power devices, thermal management, or structural analysis- Proficiency in SolidWorks, PDM, and simulation tools (ANSYS, CFX, or equivalent)- Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, and working with external vendors and fabricators- Strong knowledge of DFM/DFA, GD&T, and materials selection- Strong communication skills and effectiveness in multidisciplinary teamsAssets: PEO registration (or eligibility); experience in battery/fuel cell/energy storage packaging; familiarity with UL 9540, IEC 62619, CE; background in electrochemical device packaging or fluid-handling systems.Compensation & Total Rewards: Expected annual salary range: $80,000–$100,000.
