Reporting to the VP Research & Development, this role will play a critical role in product development testing and analysis. The ideal candidate brings a strong balance of hands‑on testing experience and leadership capability, with a focus on validation and supporting product readiness for deployment and scale. You will work closely with technology (R&D), product engineering and other departments to ensure testing activities align with product goals and commercialization timelines. Position Scope and ResponsibilitiesLab Operations & Ownership- Own and manage the battery testing lab, including test stations, equipment, and infrastructure- Ensure high uptime through preventive maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting- Manage inventory of test materials, consumables, and battery samples- Enforce and continuously improve lab safety protocols and best practices- Ensure high data quality, repeatability, and statistical rigor in all testing activitiesTesting Strategy & Execution- Develop, implement, and continuously improve test methods, procedures, and protocols for cell, pack, and system-level validation & testing- Support and lead execution of various testing plans at all levels of development, ensuring alignment with testing objectives- Analyze large and complex data sets to extract actionable insights- Support assembly and build activities by ensuring test readiness and validation during prototype and system integration phasesData, Reporting & Quality- Oversee data collection, analysis, and reporting, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and traceability- Establish best practices and standardize data processing, visualization and reporting formats- Manage test data systems and tools to enable efficient data retrieval and decision-makingProblem Solving & Continuous Improvement- Lead structured problem-solving (8D, root cause analysis, Six Sigma tools)- Identify system and process issues through testing and drive corrective actions- Continuously improve testing efficiency, automation, and repeatabilityTeam Leadership & Development- Mentor and develop a team of test engineers, technicians, and interns- Manage workload, scheduling, and prioritization of testing activities- Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and hands-on problem solving- Serve as the SME in experimental methods, diagnostics (cell, packs, system) and failure mechanismsCross-Functional Collaboration- Partner with R&D and product workstreams to align testing with product development and production goals- Support transition from engineering validation to manufacturing and deployment- Provide feedback to design teams based on test results and field learnings Qualifications- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Materials, or Chemical Engineering (or relevant discipline within Engineering or Science)- 10+ years of experience in battery or electro-mechanical system testing and data analysis, including cell, pack and/or system-level validation- Proven experience in lab operations, test execution, and team leadership- Experience with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and product validation processes- Strong hands-on experience with test equipment, instrumentation, and troubleshooting- Proficiency in data acquisition, analysis, and reporting tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB)- Experience with structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, Six Sigma)- Familiarity with high-reliability testing environments (e.g., automotive, medical, industrial)- Strong understanding of battery safety standards and testing best practices- Strong communication skills How we work (values in action)Safety; Truth; Results; Team; Mastery; Value Why Join e‑Zinc?At e‑Zinc, your work has purpose.
