The Role:
EMN is seeking a detail-oriented and driven Research & Development Associate to join our team. Reporting to the Chief Science Officer, you will contribute to the further investigation and knowledge translation of EMN’s products, with the overall goal of driving research, implementation, and sales traction. The position requires strong attention to detail, writing, research, and critical appraisal skills.
About You:
You are passionate about nutrition research and patient health, are a critical thinker and enjoy linking theory to pragmatic applications. You are a skilled scientific translator with the confidence to communicate subject matter expertise on nutrition topics. You excel at thinking outside the box and problem solving to complete tasks. You are thrilled by new challenges, love being organized, excel at multi-tasking, and can time manage independently.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Create nutrition education modules that will be used to educate colleagues
- Create surgeon and patient-facing nutrition education resources to communicate nutrition concepts as it pertains to surgical optimization and recovery
- Perform literature searches and critical reviewing of literature
- Execute market and competitor reviews to guide product development
- Find quality sources of information, evaluate the hierarchy of evidence, and provide evidence summaries to reporting manager
- Assist with the design and update of marketing materials
- Other ad hoc projects as required
Your Skills and Experience:
- Ability to communicate (oral and written) complex concepts to lay audiences effectively and concisely.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to set priorities for tasks with varying deadlines.
- Experience in literature evaluation, extraction, and synthesis
- Can work independently and collaboratively, with high self-motivation and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite. Comfortable creating PowerPoint presentations; familiar with OneDrive, using Excel to create formulas, charts, and graphs, and to conduct data analysis (sorting, filtering, pivot tables)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Nice-to-have: previous experience using project management software (Ex. ClickUp)
Your Qualifications:
- Must have: Degree or diploma in Nutritional Sciences, Food Science or a similar field
- Nice-to-have: previous experience in surgery or musculoskeletal health
- Nice-to-have: Registered Dietitian (RD), licensed to practice in Ontario (proof of liability insurance)
- May ask for proof of previous work performed.
