The Role:
As a key member of our finance team and reporting to the Chief Business & Financial Officer, you will (1) lead all aspects of EMN's accounting, financial reporting, financial control, operational finance, review/audit process, and tax; (2) contribute meaningfully to our financial planning and analysis activities including those that provide insights on our financial results, trends, costs and budgets, and (3) support new proposals and ongoing reporting for non-dilutive funding including grants and loans.
About You:
You are a pragmatic, detail-oriented, self-starter with strong quantitative and interpersonal skills. You are knowledgeable of financial systems, have a strong technical accounting background, and have audit experience.
You have business acumen and believe in and embrace data-driven decision making. You are an effective multitasker with a knack for staying organized. You thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where adaptability, critical thinking & teamwork are necessary to get work done.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the company’s financial & accounting systems and implement changes as required
- Develop, maintain, and/or update financial policies & procedures to maintain financial control
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with ASPE
- Financial reporting for various stakeholders (Board of Directors, Investors, Lenders, Grants, etc.)
- Lead year-end audit process
- Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and expense reimbursement
- Work closely with EMN's tax advisors to file income, sales, and/or other applicable taxes
- Tracking, reporting, analyzing, and socializing budget variances
- Participate in budget meetings & reviews with department leads
- Perform analyses on financial results, trends, costs and budgets. Tracks business and/or financial metrics that are relevant to EMN
- Participate in productivity & optimization meetings and makes recommendations that have the potential to improve our revenues, gross margin and/or cash flows
- Create business or project plans and/or analyses using spreadsheets, budgets & models
- Prepare summaries and/or short PowerPoint presentations to socialize analyses & plans to stakeholders
- Support commercial supply & demand forecasting
- Assist with opportunity vetting related to new business opportunities & new products
- Support non-dilutive funding opportunities, including application development & project budgeting
- Support reporting related to sales commissions, distributor commissions, and practice remittances
- Support investor relations & communications
- Support the execution of equity, debt, or other strategic transactions or business development initiatives (e.g. due diligence)
- Other ad hoc projects or initiatives as required
Your Skills and Experience:
- Superior quantitative, analytical and accounting skills
- Superior communication, interpersonal & collaboration skills
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced & dynamic work environment
- Strong understanding or all aspects of accounting & financial management
- Intellectually curious and asks questions
- Nimble in your thinking and able to pivot and change gears according to business needs.
- Ability to work independently or in a team, with high self-motivation and attention to detail.
- Communicate complex business and/or financial concepts in a clear & simple fashion
Your Qualifications:
- Must have: 5-10 years of experience in business administration or accounting
- Must have: undergraduate degree in business, accounting or finance
- Must have: accounting designation (e.g. CA, CPA)
- Must have: proficient with Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Must have: experience with QuickBooks Online
- Must have: prior small business, start-up, scale-up, experience
- Must have: the ability to create simple analyses & models in Excel
- Nice-to-have: previous experience in the CPG, food, foodtech industry
- Nice-to-have: financial audit experience
- May ask for proof of previous work performed
