Evercloak is searching for a Coating Technologist who will be responsible for developing and advancing surface chemistry needs for Evercloak’s technology and products. The Coating Technologist will work closely with Evercloak’s Lead Materials Specialist and other members of the team to develop membranes and coatings using our membrane manufacturing processes.

What Would I Be Doing?

The Coating Technologist will work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment, balancing requirements across engineering, chemistry and manufacturing to:

  • Synthesize and develop coating formulations using advanced materials for Evercloak’s dehumidification technology.

  • Investigate substrates and develop membranes for Evercloak’s dehumidification technology.

  • Evaluate membranes in various scales of testing, from laboratory to product.

  • Develop and execute standard operating procedures for Evercloak's membrane manufacturing process.

  • Accurately collect and record work.

  • Contribute to upscaling of coating formulation and membrane production.

  • Test, analyze and interpret data in collaboration with the engineering team.

  • Use PPE and technical equipment responsibly and ensure equipment is calibrated, maintained and in good condition.

Your Background Likely Includes:

  • A degree or diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution in a related engineering program (e.g., chemical engineering, chemistry, nanotechnology, material science).

  • A solid understanding of advanced material applications and surface characterization techniques (SEM, FTIR, DLS, Zeta Potential Analysis, tensile testing).

  • Ability to work with large volumes of chemicals, which can at times be heavy to handle.

  • Ability to work independently and proceed with objectives without supervision once priorities have been established.

  • Experience with a variety of computer software programs (MS Office) and online engagement platforms (e.g., Slack, Zoom).

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, or QA/QC role, including co-op or internship experience.

  • Experience supporting membrane fabrication, coating, or product development activities in a lab or pilot-scale environment.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records.

  • Familiarity with lab safety practices, SOPs, and handling chemicals and equipment responsibly.

What Else Should I Know?

  • This is a 12-month, contract position, with the possibility of extension or conversion to a permanent role.

  • Evercloak has a 40 hour work week.

  • This is a fully onsite position based in Kitchener, Ontario.

  • Candidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

  • We are offering a competitive salary of $60-$75k/year.

  • Comfortable working in both laboratory and manufacturing environments, including handling materials and equipment that may at times be heavy to move or operate.

  • G-Class driver’s license is an asset.

  • Ability to travel locally, as well as to the US is required.
