This range represents the base salary we reasonably expect to pay for this position at the time of posting.

Compensation for this role is determined based on several factors, including relevant experience, skills, geographic location, budget and company pay rates.

This role is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental and vision coverage, 401(k), paid time off and other benefits.

Working in the Editorial department, the Managing Editor, Partnerships plays a critical role in supporting Formedics’ mission and business objectives by leading the editorial relationships that power the company’s content partnerships and serving as editorial lead for the Business of Medicine franchise. This position requires strong judgment, cross-functional collaboration, and a high level of ownership, with the potential to take on direct reports as the role grows.

This role is well-suited for an organized, relationship-driven editor who can juggle multiple concurrent partnerships and deliverables, keep editorial calendars and production on track, and serve as the primary editorial point of contact for internal teams and external partners alike.

Key responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary editorial point of contact for society, publisher, and content-partner relationships, building trust and keeping partners informed and engaged.
  • Prioritize and shepherd newly sold and sponsored projects from kickoff through delivery, ensuring editorial commitments are met on time and to spec.
  • Manage non-sponsored content, content syndication, and partner microsites, establishing and maintaining production workflows with internal editors and developers.
  • Meet regularly with partners to build and maintain editorial calendars, defining cadence for recurring content and aligning on upcoming coverage, including conference coverage and news content.
  • Own editorial planning and delivery for Business of Medicine content across formats and platforms, including recurring monthly video, written Q&As with key opinion leaders, and articles.
  • Plan and coordinate recurring social media posts across the brand’s LinkedIn and X channels to extend content reach, partnering with the audience/marketing team on promotional plans.
  • Oversee publishing of articles, video, podcast episodes, on-site copy, and transcripts to the content management system, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Ensure all content meets editorial quality, accuracy, style, and compliance standards, and is medically sound and audience-appropriate.
  • Maintain visibility into deadlines and deliverables across concurrent partnerships and projects, proactively flagging risks and dependencies.

  • Business of Medicine content publishes on schedule across video, written Q&As, articles, and social channels, with strong audience engagement

  • Editorial quality, accuracy, and compliance standards are consistently upheld across all partnership and Business of Medicine content

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or English preferred; a degree in Medicine, Public Health, or a science-related field is also considered, particularly for technical medical news
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical journalism, editing, or publishing (5–7 years preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience managing external editorial relationships with societies, publishers, sponsors, or content partners
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and deadlines; experience managing an editorial team or direct reports a plus
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with AP style, AMA style, or scientific writing preferred
  • Understanding of medical and scientific terminology, with the ability to interpret and summarize complex medical studies
  • Strong fact-checking and research skills to ensure accuracy in reporting
  • Knowledge of SEO and digital publishing best practices
  • Experience with content management systems and digital publishing workflows across web, video, and podcast content
  • Audience marketing and social media skills
