About the RoleForceN is looking for a versatile, hands-on Build Engineer to bridge the gap between design and production. In this role, you will play a critical part in transitioning our cutting-edge sensor products from the R&D phase to scalable production. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will be the go-to person for identifying, troubleshooting, and implementing engineering changes on the manufacturing floor, while also helping build out the manufacturing processes, documentation, and supplier relationships needed to scale.

Key Responsibilities• New Product Introduction (NPI): Own the NPI process for new sensor variants, modifying product designs and manufacturing processes for manufacturability (DFM) to scale production from prototype (1) to high-rate manufacturing (1,000+ units).
• Production Troubleshooting: Diagnose and debug complex production issues on the fly, specifically focusing on strain gauge lamination, electronic circuit assembly and force torque sensor calibration, leading root cause analysis and corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence.
• Tooling & Fixturing: Design, prototype, and fabricate mechanical jigs, testing fixtures, and assembly aids to improve production efficiency and operator ergonomics.
• Process & Supplier Collaboration: Work with contract manufacturers, machine shops, and suppliers to ensure processes are transferable, scalable, and capable of meeting quality and delivery requirements.
• PLM Management: Ensure all parts, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and processes are formally released, documented, and managed within Arena PLM.
• Design & Documentation: Identify and implement engineering changes to improve product manufacturability; author clear, concise, and repeatable manufacturing work instructions, process flows, and inspection requirements.
• Collaboration: Partner closely with other departments to ensure all manufacturing processes are accurately captured, documented, and strictly followed on the line.
• Continuous Improvement: Contribute to ongoing improvements in cost, quality, yield, and throughput as production scales.
You are a multidisciplinary engineer who doesn’t mind getting your hands dirty. You are just as comfortable operating a drill press to modify a fixture as you are using a multi-meter to probe a circuit board or writing a Python script to parse production data.
Required Background & Skills• Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Experience: 1–2 years of hands-on engineering experience (robust co-op/internship experience is highly valued and accepted).
• Data & Software: Proficiency in Python, with demonstrated experience using it for data analysis (e.g., analyzing sensor calibration data, test results, or production metrics).
• Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with mechanical CAD software and standard electronics test equipment (multi-meters, oscilloscopes).
• Mindset: Strong root-cause analysis skills, familiarity with DFM principles, and a proactive, “get-it-done” attitude.
Nice-to-Haves• Prior exposure to strain gauge applications, adhesives, or precision sensor assembly.
• Experience working within a fast-paced startup environment.
• Prior exposure to Arena PLM or a similar Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system
• Experience working with contract manufacturers, suppliers, or machine shops.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or ISO 9001/13485 manufacturing environments.
