Key Responsibilities

  • Mechanical Design & Product Development
    • Design, prototype, and refine mechanical components for haptic devices.
    • Work with the Head of Design to develop and optimize mechanical assemblies.
    • Conduct stress analysis, tolerance studies, and material selection to improve performance and durability.
    • Support manufacturing and assembly processes, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
    • Collaborate with hardware and firmware teams to integrate mechanical components seamlessly.
  • Prototyping & Testing
    • Develop and iterate on mechanical prototypes, ensuring design feasibility.
    • Perform mechanical testing and validation to meet product performance requirements.
    • Troubleshoot mechanical and electromechanical issues, working closely with cross-functional teams.
  • Process Optimization & Documentation
    • Improve mechanical design processes for better efficiency and reliability.
    • Maintain thorough documentation of mechanical designs, including CAD models, drawings, and test reports.
    • Assist in creating clear guidelines and instructions for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Collaboration & Team Engagement
    • Work closely with the software, hardware, and product teams to ensure a cohesive design approach.
    • Participate in team discussions, design reviews, and daily stand-ups.
    • Contribute to process improvements, ensuring high-quality engineering standards.

Must Have

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering,
  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical design, R&D, product development, or integration.
  • Strong experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or CATIA).
  • Knowledge of material selection, tolerancing, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with mechanical prototyping, testing, and validation.
  • Understanding of electromechanical systems and hardware-software integration.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and French.

Nice to have

  • Experience with robotics, haptics, or mechatronics.
  • Familiarity with DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly) principles.
  • Hands-on experience with 3D printing, CNC machining, or rapid prototyping techniques.
  • Knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) or other simulation tools.
  • Previous experience in a startup or high-growth environment.
