Responsibilities

  • Fabrication & Assembly
    • Fabricate mechanical and electronic components using basic shop equipment (e.g., manual lathes, drill presses, Dremels) and advanced 3D printing technologies (SLA, SLS, FDM).
    • Assemble complex robotic systems, including high-precision transmissions and electronics, adhering to engineering specifications and geometric tolerances.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve assembly challenges with attention to detail and craftsmanship.
  • Tool & Equipment Maintenance
    • Perform routine maintenance on shop tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
    • Diagnose and repair minor mechanical issues to maintain a safe and efficient workshop.
    • Implement tool management improvements to streamline workshop operations.
  • Inventory Management
    • Track and manage inventory using our ERP system (Odoo), ensuring all materials are available for production.
    • Maintain accurate stock records and coordinate timely reordering to prevent shortages.
    • Optimize inventory processes to improve workflow and storage in the workshop.
  • Production Tracking & Reporting
    • Record time spent on fabrication and assembly tasks to ensure accurate project tracking.
    • Contribute to detailed production reports, highlighting progress and opportunities for efficiency.
    • Collaborate with the production team to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Workshop & Facility Management
    • Maintain a clean, organized workshop environment, optimizing workspace layout and tool accessibility.
    • Assist with minor improvements to the office and workshop facilities.
    • Support the development and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with engineers, designers, and R&D teams to align production with project goals.
    • Provide feedback on prototypes and suggest improvements based on hands-on experience.
    • Participate in team meetings, offering insights to improve production timelines and processes.
  • Communication & Documentation
    • Maintain open communication with team members, contributing to stand-ups and progress updates.
    • Document fabrication processes and techniques to build a knowledge base for the team.
    • Assist in creating user manuals and product documentation for customers and internal teams.

Must Have

  • 1–3 years of hands-on experience in a similar role, particularly in consumer product or electronics assembly.
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, including geometric tolerances.
  • Proficiency in using shop equipment (e.g., lathe, drill press, 3D printers) and hand tools.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to multitask.
  • Basic metrology skills and a sharp eye for precision.

Nice to have

  • Experience maintaining and using SLA, SLS, and FDM 3D printers.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., Odoo) for production and inventory management.
  • Experience with CAD software (e.g., Onshape) for design and prototyping tasks.
  • Knowledge of maintaining manual lathes and other shop equipment.
