Who we are

Employment Hero is on a mission to make employment easier and more valuable for everyone. Our Employment Operating System brings hiring, HR, payroll and benefits into an all-in-one solution.

Since our inception in 2014, we’ve scaled to a $2 billion valuation and gained a presence in 6 countries globally - Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, the UK and Canada. We now service over 350,000 businesses and more than 3 million employees.

The EH Way

At Employment Hero, we’re proud of our unique DNA, which we call The EH Way.

  1. We are Mission First - everything we do (from what we work on, to how we allocate capital and where we focus) is driven by our Mission
  2. We are Remote First - we champion a remote environment with a preference for asynchronous communication and a high degree of autonomy
  3. We are AI First - we are committed to using AI to accelerate our mission; AI is not just a tool, it’s a fundamental part of how we operate, innovate, and scale
  4. We are Apolitical - we do not take a position on political or social topics, unless it relates to our Mission
  5. We Live by Our Values - we role model our values 100% of the time
  6. We Expect High Performance - we set a high standard and we’re not satisfied with being average

An open call to people obsessed with AI

This isn't a typical internship.

We're not looking for someone to take notes in meetings or tidy up spreadsheets. We're looking

for someone who has caught the AI bug, who experiments on weekends, who finds broken

workflows and immediately wonders how AI could fix them, and who is genuinely excited about

what's possible right now.

Over 12 weeks, you'll embed in our AI Activation Team and work alongside the people building

AI-driven change across the entire business, from Sales and CX to Finance, Legal, and

Operations.

You don't need a tech background. You need the right mindset.

What you'll do

No two weeks will look the same. You could be:

- Mapping out painful, repetitive processes across the business and identifying where AI

can have the biggest impact

- Experimenting with AI tools, building prompts, testing automations, and iterating quickly

on what works

- Supporting the rollout of AI initiatives to real teams, helping with change management,

training, and adoption

- Researching new tools and emerging AI capabilities, and bringing back ideas worth

acting on

- Collaborating with stakeholders across functions to understand their problems and

prototype solutions

This is hands-on work. You'll be expected to make things, try things, and learn fast.

Who you are

There's no single background that fits this. What matters is how you think and what you're

curious about.

You might be studying IT, software engineering, business, communications, marketing, finance,

design, law, or something else entirely. As long as you've been actively exploring AI, we want to

hear from you.

What really matters:

- You're genuinely hands-on with AI - you use it daily, you experiment, you've built or

automated something (even if it's small)

- You're curious and a bit relentless - you go deeper than most and don't give up when

something's unclear

- You care about real impact - you think about whether something actually works, not

just whether it looks good

- You communicate clearly - you can explain what you're doing and why it matters, to

anyone

- You're comfortable with ambiguity - you can figure out what to do next without being

told every step

- You're a fast learner - you pick things up quickly and apply them right away

What we're looking for (not a strict checklist)

- Some practical experience with AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Midjourney,

RelevanceAI, Zapier, or similar)

- An example of something you've built, automated, or improved using AI, however small

- Genuine enthusiasm for the intersection of AI and how organisations work

- Strong written communication skills

- Currently studying or recently completed a tertiary qualification in any field

What you'll get

- A real internship with real work, not a passive experience

- Access to best-in-class AI tooling (Claude, Gemini, Relevance AI, and more)

- A front-row seat to how a $2B tech company is using AI to transform every function

- Mentorship from the AI Activation team and exposure to senior leaders across the

business

- Remote-first flexibility with a high degree of autonomy

- A genuine pathway, high performers may be considered for permanent roles

- The EH Way: a culture that respects your time, trusts your judgment, and expects great

work

Application Requirements

- A cover letter containing your current experience using AI tools and what excites you

about the world of AI

- CV

- Australian working rights (for future placement opportunities)

We’re AI-first, so you may meet some of our AI tools early in the process. They help us cut the noise, surface great talent fast and make sure every candidate gets a fair, consistent experience.

We verify candidate identity and location as part of our hiring process.
