Deadline to apply is May 10, 2026

Our Company:

Jule is a Toronto-based all-in-one solution provider of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Electric Vehicle Fast Charging (EVFC). Using its patented battery & power/energy management technologies, Jule has been delivering successful projects over a wide range of industries, including community energy storage, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and microgrid development. Position Overview

Jule is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 5 years of experience to support the design, development, and validation of mechanical systems for high-power electronics within BESS and EV fast-charging applications.

This role goes beyond execution—you will take ownership of product packaging, thermal management, and design optimization, while actively contributing to product development, testing strategies, and manufacturing readiness. You will work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment with exposure to automotive-style product development cycles, manufacturing, and system-level integration. This role will report directly to the Director of Hardware.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and optimization of mechanical packaging for high-power electronics, with a strong focus on thermal management and cooling systems

  • Develop robust enclosure and system layouts for BESS and EVFC products, considering manufacturability, serviceability, and environmental conditions

  • Perform and interpret thermal and structural simulations (e.g., heat transfer, airflow, vibration, stress) to validate design performance

  • Own prototype builds and product testing, including hands-on validation of thermal performance, durability, and compliance (e.g., fire/safety systems where applicable)

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless system integration

  • Drive design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) improvements in a production environment

  • Develop detailed mechanical drawings, BOMs, and documentation for manufacturing and assembly

  • Support production and layout planning within a manufacturing or pilot production setting

  • Troubleshoot design and production issues, implementing root-cause analysis and corrective actions

  • Participate in and contribute to design reviews, providing technical guidance and mentoring junior team members where appropriate

  • Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety codes, and client requirements

  • Continuously improve product performance, cost efficiency, and reliability

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • 4–5 years of relevant experience in mechanical design, preferably in high-power electronics, automotive, or manufacturing environments

  • Strong experience with product development, testing, and validation, including hands-on prototype work

  • Proven experience with thermal management systems and enclosure/packaging design

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (or similar CAD tools such as Siemens NX/Unigraphics)

  • Experience with thermal and structural analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL, or equivalent)

  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, production environments, and design for manufacturability

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a cross-functional, fast-paced team

  • Ability to work on-site in labs, manufacturing facilities, and field environments as needed

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in automotive or high-reliability product environments

  • Exposure to fire safety systems, environmental testing, or compliance standards

  • Experience with COMSOL Multiphysics or similar simulation tools

  • Background in mechanical design streams (solid mechanics, heat transfer, etc.)

  • Hands-on machine shop or fabrication experience

  • Prior experience supporting production line setup or manufacturing layout

  • Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license
