Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Applications Analyst to join our Recognition, Retirement, Benefits & Wellbeing (RRBW) team/pod to lead specialized business application management activities for a RRBW (Recognition, Retirement, Benefits and Wellbeing) HR Applications area.

The role is expected to plan, manage, and lead requirements gathering through the application lifecycle, and for key projects / programs to support application change through the application lifecycle. This role is critical to the continuity and stability of our HR application ecosystem and will play a central role in sustaining and evolving RRBW Workday HRIS configurations and complex data integrations that support core employee programs.

We are seeking a candidate with advanced domain expertise, strong judgment, and the ability to operate independently in risk-averse high‑complexity environments.

The role is designed for a professional who brings both functional Retirement, Benefits & Wellbeing applications and programs knowledge and strong HRIS technical experience, and who can quickly become a trusted escalation point for complex scenarios across the enterprise and lead business testing and business operational support and change management initiatives for integration into BAU processes.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to make an immediate, visible impact on enterprise‑wide HR services, be recognized as a trusted technical expert and advisor and shape the evolution and stability of a highly complex application landscape.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

CUSTOMER

  • Responsible for intake of projects and major initiatives - Own and manage end‑to‑end application lifecycle activities, from intake and requirements through delivery, testing, deployment, and transition to BAU support
  • Responsible for the documentation of all business owned artifacts that are required for projects and major initiatives as defined by the bank's Project Delivery Life Cycle (PDLC) methodology
  • Responsible for business process documentation for all business applications owned/managed
  • Lead requirements gathering and solution design for projects, releases, and regulatory or operational changes
  • Responsible for day to day operations process management to ensure consistency, and delivery according to established SLA
  • Responsible for all Business Acceptance Test (BAT) documentation that is required for all projects and major initiatives as defined by the bank's project delivery methodology
  • Work closely with the Test Lead to ensure common testing standards and practices are followed and adhered to
  • Responsible for the execution of all BAT testing for projects and/or release maintenances ensuring alignment with enterprise testing standards and project delivery methodology
  • Partner closely with other HR Technology teams to ensure solutions meet business, data governance, and integration requirements
  • Provide support on deployment and change management for initiatives relating to applications owned / managed to ensure smooth transition into BAU
  • Review requirements specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
  • Provide feedback and thoughts on possible solutions to issues/risks arising throughout the life cycle of a project, including adherence to enterprise application / data lifecycle practices
  • Identify and escalate risks that could impact project timelines or the quality, compliance, or service continuity of the deliverables, providing clear options and recommendations to business owner ( and project manager if applicable), provide options and recommendation
  • Act as a key escalation point for high‑risk application, data, and operational issues, including those involving external vendors and integrations
  • May provide project management support to various extents

SHAREHOLDER

  • Act as a decision maker on projects by synthesizing input from SMEs and stakeholders across HR, Technology, Data, and vendors
  • Accountable for adhering to the EPMO project management methodology
  • Ensure adherence to the Data Governance Framework
  • Ensure adherence to guidelines and regulatory requirements under Privacy, Legal, Compliance, and the Office of the Chief Data Officer
  • Build strong, trust‑based relationships within the team and with stakeholders through credibility, consistency, and sound judgment
  • Continuously enhance knowledge/expertise in RRBW (Recognition, Retirement, Benefits and Wellbeing) HR Applications and keep current with leading-edge technologies trends/developments
  • Continuously enhance knowledge of business domains and their products/services
  • Support the development of business cases including benefits identification, realization, and risk mitigation strategies
  • Support and/or implement solutions that mitigate risk and maximizes the availability of service, efficiency and effectiveness

BREADTH & DEPTH

  • Expert level professional role requiring in-depth knowledge / expertise RRBW (Recognition, Retirement, Benefits and Wellbeing) HR Applications (especially Workday, Telus, and others) and working knowledge of broader related areas
  • Integrates the broader organizational context into advice and solutions within own area
  • Serve as the senior subject‑matter expert for Recognition, Retirement, Benefits and Wellbeing applications, including Workday HRIS, vendor platforms, and complex integrations, and a resource for others
  • Expert knowledge of applications supported by the team including system components, functionality, interfaces, data flows, and business rules.
  • Expert knowledge of bank's PDLC methodology, business testing and project management
  • Expert knowledge and an understanding of RRBW (Recognition, Retirement, Benefits and Wellbeing) HR Applications and broader organization
  • Expert analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to solve complex problems requiring analysis to solve complex problems requiring analysis of multiple variables, including consultation with multiple stakeholder
  • Uses advanced methods to contribute to new solutions and recommend standards against which others will operate
  • Leads projects of moderately to complex risks and resource requirements; may lead end –to-end processes of functional programs
  • Coordinates and prioritizes multiple initiatives
  • Subject matter expert and consults with clients and/or project teams and may be involved in assessments of potential projects
  • Works independently as the senior lead and guides other within RRBW (Recognition, Retirement, Benefits and Wellbeing) HR Applications area of expertise
  • While the role formally reports to a Senior Manager, day‑to‑day work is closely aligned to a Product Owner who oversees delivery priorities, sequencing, and outcomes for the RRBW HR Applications portfolio. Success in this role requires strong collaboration within this dual‑accountability model.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • Undergraduate degree or technical certificate
  • 5+ years of progressively senior experience in HR applications (Workday, etc.), related data integrations (HRIS to vendor, vendor to HRIS), business systems analysis, or application management
  • Deep functional knowledge of Benefits, Retirement, Pension, or Wellbeing programs
  • Hands‑on experience with Workday HRIS, including configurations, business processes, data flows, and integrations
  • Proven ability to support complex, high‑risk integrations with external vendors and downstream systems
  • Demonstrated experience working within formal project delivery and governance frameworks (PDLC/EPMO)
  • Preferred demonstrated ability to operate effectively within Agile delivery frameworks (e.g., Scrum, hybrid Agile/Waterfall), partnering closely with Product Owners, Technology teams, and vendors to deliver complex HR application changes.
  • Preferred hands‑on experience using JIRA (or equivalent Agile tools) to manage work intake, track requirements, user stories, defects, and delivery progress across multiple initiatives.
  • Preferred experience supporting iterative delivery cycles, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, testing cycles, and release readiness for large‑scale, integrated systems.
  • Strong judgment in balancing Agile responsiveness with the rigor required for high‑risk, regulated HR systems, including documentation, testing, and governance expectations
  • Comfortable working in multi‑team delivery environments, coordinating dependencies across HR, Technology, Data, and external vendors within Agile or hybrid delivery models.
