TD's Analytics, Insights and Artificial Intelligence (AI2) team provides consultative support with data & analytics-based business insights and/or solutions to guide decision making and/or strategic planning. The Test & Learn CoE within AI2 empowers colleagues to make impactful decisions and enhance customer experiences by applying advanced statistical experimental designs and analytics. By establishing standardized frameworks and scalable analytical assets across the organization, the team fosters a culture of trusted, best-in-class, intelligent decision-making.
The Test & Learn CoE’s mandate includes:
- Expanding colleague expertise through training and collaboration
- Designing and executing experimentation roadmaps to quickly deliver business value and identify opportunities for operational efficiencies

Job Description
As part of Analytics, Insights and Artificial Intelligence's (AI2) Personalization and Intelligent Decisioning Centres of Excellence (CoEs), the Test & Learn CoE specializes in designing and implementing statistical experimental designs for analytical solutions and developing scaled capabilities and training for use across TD.
Are you someone who is interested in an environment where they can make an immediate impact and identify opportunities for improvements across the entire analytics solution lifecycle?
We are looking for a data scientist experienced in designing and implementing experimental design such as A/B/N testing. The candidate will be expected to quickly understand the business context and analytics solution and be able to create and implement an experimentation roadmap, identifying and advising on KPIs and business opportunities.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage and perform statistical analysis comparing test and control groups using techniques such as T-Test, ANOVA, non-parametric tests, time-series attribution, Difference-in-Difference, Causal Impact modelling, and attribution modelling framework
- The candidate will be proficient with sampling methodologies, creating comparable test and control groups
- Proactively contribute to development of a Test & Learn tool and strategy
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to devise testing strategies and attribution modelling
- Independently design experimental Test and Learn projects, including identifying and advising on the right KPIs
- Support data sets for analysis/modelling, including cleaning data and feature engineering
- Analyze large data sets and identify trends and insights to inform business decisions; communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences
- Support team members and business partners to develop, test and deploy analytics solutions, for example: forecasting, optimization, or pricing models
- Proactively identify business problems and opportunities where a data-driven solution would be appropriate and develop proposals/approaches
- Collaborate with business partners to support the business case development process for analytics solutions
- Educate the organization about the steps of empirical studies, including common challenges and solutions
- Help the organization understand the principles and math behind the scientific process to drive organizational alignment
- Provide thought leadership or industry expertise around experimentation, and participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business unit
- Stay current on emerging developments in experimentation methodologies, continuously expanding knowledge of the business, related tools, and techniques
- Lead, motivate, and develop collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders—including data scientists, business partners, and technical teams—to drive the successful design, deployment, and analysis of tests
What we're looking for:
- 3+ years of experience in experimental design such as a/b/n testing or in a similar role focused on optimization/attribution of analytics solutions (higher degree education and research tenure can be counted)
- Undergraduate degree or advanced technical degree preferred (e.g., math, statistics, physics, engineering, finance, or computer science). Graduate's degree preferred
- Self-motivated and proactive in influencing stakeholders to ensure objective testing
- Strong background in statistics, especially designing and implementing tests
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent oral and written skills, and demonstrated ability to digest complex information and summarize in a clear, concise fashion
- Strong analytically-anchored problem-solving skills – a logical and strategic thinker with strong critical reasoning skills, proactively identifies risks and issues, recommends solutions, challenges the status quo
- Proficient with Python
- Nice to have: Shiny, R, Unit testing
- Knowledge of Data Bricks, Cloud Computing, ADL (Azure Data Lake), ADF (Azure Data Factory) considered an asset
- Familiarity with building, deploying and managing machine learning models and ad-hoc analytics solutions would be an asset
