Job Description:
This Manager will partner with Segment 2A Operational Risk Management (ORM) teams, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), and the First Line of Defense to provide independent oversight and effective challenge of operational risk management activities. The role supports the execution of enterprise ORM programs, frameworks, and standards, and promotes leading risk management practices and tools to address an evolving operational risk environment.
The Manager role provides a broad and diverse range of risk management expertise to TD Insurance business segments and corporate functions. This role requires a strong understanding of business processes and control environment, as well as the ability to assess and challenge risk management practices.
As risk managers, we identify, assess, measure, monitor and report on operational risks through all aspects of the ERM and ORM programs and processes. Roles in this job family may also test, monitor and assess operational risk matters across TD’s footprint and escalate and communicate material issues to internal stakeholders and support communications with senior management and risk committees.
This role may engage and influence senior stakeholders through clear communication and compelling data narratives and present regular updates on risk profile, key indicators, breaches, material changes and emerging risk themes.
Reporting to the 2A ORM Segment this role will have the following accountabilities:
- Provide independent review and effective challenge of First Line execution of operational risk management activities in alignment with the Operational Risk Framework and Standards
- Assess the adequacy, design, and operating effectiveness of controls, including challenge of assumptions, judgments, and supporting evidence
- Identify systemic risk themes, control gaps, and emerging risks, and ensure appropriate escalation through governance forums
- Execute Second Line oversight and challenge across core ORM programs
- Monitor risk appetite measures and key indicators relevant to the segment
- Escalate breaches, material changes, and emerging risk issues to senior management and relevant committees in a timely manner
- Support preparation and review of operational risk profiles, dashboards, and management reporting
- Maintain strong knowledge of TD policies, standards, and frameworks related to operational and enterprise risk
- Support identification and assessment of policy or standards exceptions, including documentation through formal risk acceptance where required
- Engage and influence stakeholders through clear, professional communication and collaborative challenge
- Support responses to audit, regulatory, and senior management requests related to operational risk matters
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from a recognized university or equivalent experience.
- At least 10+ years of relevant experience within the Financial Services industry 1st / 2nd line Control Function, Internal Audit field.
- Experience in 2nd line ORM will be an asset
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous and fast‑paced environments
- Strong analytical skills, including risk analysis and data‑driven insights
- Superior influencing, collaboration, and communication skills
- High standards of integrity, professionalism, and teamwork
Education & Accreditation
- This role requires successful completion of all three levels of TD Operational Risk Management certification. Certification is not a requirement to apply for this role. The successful candidate will have 12 months from the start date in the role of completing the required certifications. The required courses are available internally through TD Operational Risk Management.
