Job Description:

Department Overview

The Pricing technology team provides capabilities that support price generation, presentation, segmentation, negotiation, exception management, pricing changes and customer rate holds based on product analyst approvals. It provides architecture leadership in the design and delivery of cross products, cross channel, cross Lines of Business technology solutions.

Manager Engineering is accountable to lead and manage a team of IT professionals to drive the planning, execution and ultimate delivery of the solution. While investing heavily in nurturing business, client and partner relationships for end-to-end delivery of technology solutions or services, the Manager Engg. will also be partnered with a Project Manager and is expected to oversee and directly manage multiple specialized functional teams (e.g. Application Development, Solutions Designers, Business Systems Analysts, Support, Project Management, DevOps, etc.) and seamlessly manage ongoing infrastructure support and shared services to segment CIOs, business leaders and various TD stakeholders.

The Manager, Engineering, will facilitate and develop technological forecasts and total cost estimates and deliverables for business leaders and internal partners, as well as ensuring the solution meets the business goals, TD compliant provides value and is robust. Bank and technology domain knowledge will be critical to success in this role. A great deal of autonomy is expected to initiate and own the Scoping, Planning, Design, Implementation, Testing and Releases of the solution and set the approach for how the team will deliver, while balancing TD's regulatory, security and process constraints.

Job Details - What You’ll Do

  • Manage cross-functional team of IT professionals to support assigned partner requirements and help them to make technological decisions.

  • Plan and manage the technology delivery of multiple projects and initiatives

  • Identify and resolve obstacles, with a focus on quality and delivery

  • Partner with Leaders, Application Owners, Project Managers, Architects, Portfolio Managers, Business Representatives, etc. to identify opportunities for business vision and deliver on those opportunities

  • Establish day-to-day management direction, define priorities and strategies consistent with business goals and aligned to the technology leadership team's direction.

  • Work with project managers to ensure they comply with the capacity forecasting process, report on portfolio progress, status, overall health and individual applications from technology perspective.

  • Manage vendor relationships, communicate promptly and accurately, resolve issues, monitor financials (e.g. against contracts).

  • Engage with IT leadership to reinforce focus on reusability, scalability and enterprise-wide solutions (and to maximize returns on product suites).

  • Track deliverables; share updates; support initiatives aimed at cost reduction and faster time-to- market.

  • Know the competition, customer and industry trends, innovation, pinpoint relevant research opportunities.

  • Maintain high level of customer service, ensure commitments are met; recommend appropriate actions to enhance service levels, through effective service level management practices/ agreements.

  • Ensure business requirement understanding and apply knowledge to prioritize new and existing project delivery.

  • Delivery Leads who are people managers, will recruit, train, coach, and manage the performance and career of their direct reports

  • Facilitate decisions with respect to solution, architecture and potential options & risks which will have downstream impact in cost and scalability.

  • Provide technical support for escalated incidents to ensure they are resolved efficiently and communicate with the project manager and business partners.

  • Look for opportunities to minimize any negative Run the bank (RTB) impact

Job Requirements - What You Need to Succeed

  • Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical degree or equivalent experience is required.

  • 7+ years relevant experience in managing end to end technology delivery of medium and large size project ($2 Million+) and associated project challenges.

  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of business and bank technology standards (e.g., infrastructure, architecture, processes, applications, platforms, services) and managing people and projects.

  • Willingness, motivation and ability to work independently (and autonomously) in the management of projects, teams and operational discipline, and can develop strategic thinking and planning throughout work plan execution (short- to medium-term business perspective).

  • Proficiency in managing system enhancements, new releases or projects of moderate scope and complexity.

  • Readiness to manage or lead a group (e.g., ~10-15 people) for project outcome (e.g., developers, analysts, specialists, administrators, project managers).

  • Ability to demonstrate the technical solutions design in interview process (includes architecture, security, data considerations).

  • Experience of at least 2 projects where end-to-end technology delivery & ownership experience is demonstrated.

  • Demonstrated banking domain knowledge business acumen or the ability facilitate, absorb and adapt to the domain.

  • Experience with estimation models and ability to guide team to come with end to end estimations.

  • Design and develop resolutions, plans and strategies for operational advancement.

  • Mandatory to have some experience in API (Java/Nodejs) and other web technologies (Java preferred)

  • In-Depth Experience of Development and/or Architecture in at least 1 technology area and exposure to others.
