Job Description:
Department Overview
You will join a DevOps engineering team responsible for the reliability, security, and scalability of mobile delivery pipelines and production services. The team enables product and engineering partners to ship high‑quality iOS and Android apps with reproducible builds, secure signing and artifacts, and operational observability at scale.
Job Details — What You’ll Do
You will design, implement, and operate mobile CI/CD, release distribution, and runtime observability to help product teams deliver secure, performant mobile experiences quickly and reliably.
Day to Day
- Reproducible builds & release automation: Build and maintain reproducible iOS and Android build and release pipelines (Xcode CLI, Fastlane, Gradle) to reduce lead time and failed releases.
- CI/CD strategy & scale: Design and operate scalable CI platforms (GitHub Actions, Jenkins), optimize parallelism and runners, and define pipeline strategies that support multiple product teams.
- Infrastructure Management and Observability: Build tools and implement best practices to ensure toil-free build infrastructure (On-prem & Cloud)
- Mobile SSDLC & security controls: Implement and enforce mobile SSDLC controls (build → test → SAST → pen test), manage signing certificates and provisioning, and protect the supply chain.
- Automation, secrets & infrastructure: Automate provisioning, secrets management, artifact lifecycle (Nexus or equivalent), and environment orchestration while ensuring traceability and auditability.
- Partnering & mentorship: Collaborate with product, security, QA, and platform teams to embed DevOps best practices, mentor engineers, and drive platform adoption.
AI Adoptability & Modern Engineering Expectations
The ideal candidate will responsibly introduce AI to accelerate macOS build infrastructure, CI/CD optimization, and monitoring for iOS and Android teams—improving developer velocity, build reliability, and observability while preserving security and compliance. Use cases include build tuning, flaky-test triage, release-note generation, telemetry anomaly detection, log/trace summarization, and runbook knowledge retrieval, always with human review and validation.
Strong candidates will:
- Evaluate AI opportunities that measurably improve CI/CD throughput or stability without compromising auditability or supply‑chain security.
- Design model‑agnostic, provable integrations that prefer enterprise‑approved models, using open‑source or POC models only in governed environments.
- Apply strict governance: access controls, prompt/output validation, monitoring for drift, and human‑in‑the‑loop checks for sensitive operations (signing, releases, security alerts).
- Ensure observability of AI‑assisted features with metrics, alerts, and runbooks so impact can be measured and behavior tuned or reverted quickly.
Where You'll Work
You’ll be expected to work Primarily onsite at a TD location for meetings, team events and experiences. The hiring manager will provide more information about how this works for their team.
Job Requirements – What You Need to Succeed
- 5+ years of DevOps/platform experience with hands‑on ownership of mobile CI/CD and release engineering for iOS and Android.
- Deep mobile toolchain knowledge: Xcode CLI tools, Fastlane, iOS signing/provisioning, Android SDK, and Gradle; experience with Apple Developer and Google Play consoles.
- CI/CD expertise with GitHub Actions and Jenkins, including scalable runners/compute, parallel builds, pipeline optimization, and multi‑team strategy.
- Practical scripting and automation skills: Python, Ruby, Bash; strong macOS/unix CLI comfort (SSH, process management).
- Infrastructure as Code and provisioning: hands‑on experience with Ansible and Terraform.
- Mobile SSDLC and security controls: SAST, pen testing, binary repositories (Nexus or equivalent), and supply‑chain protections.
- Observability and operational readiness: experience with Grafana, Dynatrace (or similar), monitoring design, alerting, SLOs/runbooks, and DORA metrics.
- Networking and release distribution knowledge relevant to mobile backends (CDNs, load balancers, API gateways, distribution mechanics).
- Familiarity with AI tooling and security considerations for AI‑assisted workflows; ability to apply governance and human‑in‑the‑loop controls.
- Experience mentoring teams and driving platform adoption is a plus.
- Experience or interest in AI assisted SDLC
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
What Success Looks Like
- Reliable, auditable mobile build and release pipelines that reduce manual steps and failed releases.
- Faster, lower‑risk releases enabled by automation, observability, and clear operational playbooks.
- Broad platform adoption with elevated standards for security, testing, and CI/CD hygiene.
