Job Summary:

Reporting to the General Counsel & Corporate Secretary, the Regional Counsel, APAC, will be responsible for providing timely, professional, and practical legal counsel to Li-Cycle’s various departments and internal stakeholders. The Regional Counsel, APAC, will be an experienced business lawyer who is ready to manage a diverse portfolio of corporate, commercial, and compliance matters in a rapidly growing, fast-paced environment. This role is an exciting opportunity to help establish and develop the legal and compliance functions within a new, NYSE-listed, multi-national company in the clean-tech industry.

Primary Responsibilities:

Working closely with the Legal Department and the Regional President, APAC:

  • draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including sale, purchase, and services agreements;
  • facilitate strategic transactions by, among other things, drafting term sheets, conducting due diligence, creating legal entities, and coordinating with internal stakeholders;
  • manage and help to resolve disputes by, among other things, managing outside counsel, reviewing court and arbitration filings, and negotiating settlement agreements;
  • implement key compliance initiatives;
  • promote compliance with internal policies and procedures;
  • support internal departments achieve their goals and objectives by, among other things, reviewing vendor contracts, establishing procedures, and serving as a trusted legal advisor; and
  • assist with other legal matters as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • licensed to practice law in Singapore;
  • in good standing with the Singapore Legal Services Regulatory Authority (LSRA);
  • 7 to 10 years’ of relevant legal experience;
  • mastery of the English language;
  • diverse legal background, working on things like corporate governance, commercial agreements, international trade, dispute resolution, and regulatory compliance;
  • based in Singapore;
  • multi-lingual (g., Mandarin, Korean, etc.);
  • experience working with Canadian and U.S.-based counsel;
  • experience with international transactions, including trade compliance; and
  • experience with the metal, mining, electronic, recycling, and/or battery industries preferred.
