Team Description

Remote roles are performed from the designated home work location upon time of hire, and any changes to this home work location requires a review of remote status and approval.
Linkedin’s Production Hardware Engineering and Capacity team is looking for an experienced capacity planning resource that will be part of a team to support the company's data center footprint globally. The role will require working with the Production, Infrastructure, and Business Engineering and Operations teams.
Responsibilities:
• Partner with internal Engineering customers to understand their long-term growth trajectories
and create plans to meet their compute resource needs.
• Perform data analysis for existing capacity headroom and build forecast demand pipeline.
• Work with our Data Center Engineering and Infrastructure Business Operations partners to
develop a new capacity take-down schedule.
• Work with our Hardware Evaluation team to identify the impact of new technology on data
center capacity.
• Define metrics and create tools to scale capacity planning with LinkedIn’s growth.
• Track infrastructure capacity orders, delivery, and spare hardware pool sizes for all products
within our data centers.
• Perform Quarterly infrastructure capacity analysis and review with Service Engineers,
Application Owners and Management.
• Proactively identify data center capacity-related concerns and work with systems, network,
and operations engineering teams to find resolutions.
• Work with our Infrastructure Development team to build tools for automation of the capacity
planning process that can be utilized for more effective hardware allocation.
• Convert hardware forecast into cabinet configurations using power balancing and topology
requirements to best utilize data center power and space capacity.
• The position may require some travel
Basic Qualifications:
• BA/BS Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent
practical experience
• 5+ years of capacity planning, production planning or operations planning in large Data Center
environments with at least 2+ years of experience in a leadership position
• Experience with data center facilities operations, power infrastructure, cooling infrastructure,
and physical space requirements.
• Experience with building and managing models for business forecasting, variance analysis, and
problem solving.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 10+ years of capacity planning, production planning or operations planning in large Data
Center environments
• Experience working with a trouble ticketing system (Jira or equivalent)
• Advanced knowledge of data analytics and data modeling tools
• Strong communication and presentation skills working with cross-functional teams
• Strong operational understanding of BMS, CMDB, and DCIM tools
Suggested Skills:

Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
