As a Team Lead in Mortgage Loan Closing, you’ll drive operational excellence, support team members in their daily work, and champion innovation in closing processes. You will serve as a key liaison between your team and leadership, ensuring quality, compliance, and efficiency in every closing.About the role
Operational Leadership
Oversee daily operations of the loan closing team, ensuring timely and accurate processing of closings.
Act as the subject matter expert on loan programs including FNMA/FHLMC, FHA, VA, guidelines.
Monitor work queues, resolve escalations, and reallocate resources to meet deadlines and service level agreements (SLAs).
Support the implementation of tools, technologies, and procedures to improve closing effectiveness and customer experience.
Team Coaching & Development
Provide hands-on guidance and training to closers; support new hire onboarding.
Coach and mentor team members, alongside closing management to promote skill development and goal achievement.
Identify opportunities for continuous learning and career growth.
Process & Compliance
Ensure all closings meet regulatory and internal policy standards.
Conduct quality control reviews and escalate issues as necessary.
Help evolve and document best practices and workflows to drive consistent excellence.
Cross-Functional Partnership
Collaborate with peers in processing, underwriting, funding, and leadership to resolve pipeline bottlenecks.
Communicate team performance and feedback to senior leaders regularly.
Represent the voice of the closing team in departmental meetings and initiatives.
Who you are
Minimum 5+ years of mortgage closing experience, including some leadership or mentorship responsibilities.
Strong working knowledge of FNMA/FHLMC, FHA, and VA guidelines.
Excellent communication, decision-making, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; tech-savvy with mortgage platforms.
