About the Internship Opportunity with Momentum

The MaRS Momentum program Intern supports program operations through designing, executing, and delivering projects that improve programming our for fast scaling Canadian tech-companies.

The Momentum intern provides logistical and administrative support. This includes communications with ventures, supporting event planning and logistics, and coordinating internal teams to deliver services and advisory to portfolio companies.

Project deliverables in this role include salesforce process maps, data and research focused market overviews, etc.

Responsibilities include:

  • Event Management: planning and managing event logistics for online and in person sessions. Support with “day of” event tasks including taking meeting notes, surveying participants, and managing follow-up.
  • Data projects: Develop and execute on research projects focused on understanding the landscape of Canadian late-stage scale-up tech companies. This includes identifying a research question, cleaning, and analyzing large sets of data, and communicating the insights in a meaningful way.
  • CRM Management: Support the Momentum team in managing our CRM system and processes. This includes tasks like cleaning up client data, ensuring the system is up to date with the most relevant information, and taking the initiative to build reports and dashboards to support our team's work.
  • Administrative program support: supporting our advisory team (Executives-in-Residence) and program team in delivering MaRS services and resources to ventures clients. This includes support scheduling meetings, communicating follow-up action items and next steps, ensuring work is recorded in CRM and communicated to the program team.
  • Program Operations: working with the Momentum team to identify processes that can be improved for greater efficiency and scale. The Momentum intern will be responsible for evaluating, recording and taking initiative to review the way we do our work to identity where there is opportunity for improvement.

What You Bring

  • Enrolled in post-secondary or graduate studies; social sciences, communications, marketing or business is an asset
  • Experience working with large data sets to analyze market size and trends
  • Strong capabilities in G-Suite and a corporate CRM, preferably Salesforce
  • Strong communication skills – oral, written and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational and process/project management skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively independently and as part of a team
  • Superior interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Passionate about entrepreneurship, emerging technologies, and innovation with a desire to apply your skills in support of Canadian-based technology companies
  • Self-starter with personal accountability and commitment to achieving and exceeding goals and objectives

The Fine Print

Applicants can either be a 2023 graduate of a post-secondary program or returning to post-secondary studies in Winter 2023.

The internship is a full-time (37.5 hours/week) opportunity and runs September 5 - December 15, 2023.

Hourly rate: $24 - $27
