Information Security Officer (ISO) (Fixed-term contract)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Information Security Officer to lead and support our security and compliance initiatives, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our information systems and data. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing and delivering security certifications, particularly ISO 27001 and SOC 2, and a solid understanding of global data protection and privacy regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA, and other relevant compliance frameworks.

Responsibilities

    • Lead and manage the implementation and maintenance of security certifications such as ISO 27001 and SOC 2 (Type I and Type II).
    • Coordinate internal and external audits, assessments, and remediation activities.
    • Develop and maintain the Information Security Management System (ISMS) and ensure ongoing compliance with security policies and standards.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to implement and monitor security controls and risk management practices.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, HIPAA, and other applicable laws and standards.
    • Conduct regular risk assessments, gap analyses, and vendor security evaluations.
    • Maintain up-to-date documentation, including security policies, procedures, incident response plans, and compliance evidence.
    • Provide security awareness training to employees and promote a culture of security and compliance.
    • Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes to proactively adapt the organization’s security and compliance posture.

Required Qualifications

Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degree or certifications preferred.
    • 5+ years of experience in an information security or compliance role.
    • Proven experience in managing and delivering ISO 27001 and SOC 2 certification processes.
    • Strong working knowledge of GDPR, HIPAA, and other compliance and data privacy frameworks (e.g., CCPA, NIST, PCI DSS).
    • Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies, security frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS), and control mapping.
    • Experience working with GRC tools and compliance platforms.
    • Excellent communication and project management skills.
    • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, or ISO 27001 Lead Implementer/Auditor are a strong plus.
    • Superb writing skills in English.

Technical Skills

  • Experience working in cloud-native or SaaS environments, preferably AWS
  • Experience with GRC tools (e.g., Drata, Vanta, Tugboat Logic, Secureframe)
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and modern CI/CD pipelines
  • Hands-on knowledge of technical security tools (e.g., SIEM, DLP, vulnerability management)
  • Experience leading security initiatives in regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, finance, SaaS).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Soft Skills

  • Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring abilities.
  • Capable of engaging with executives (C-Suite) and delivering high-level reports.
  • Excellent documentation and policy-writing skills.
  • Team player with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Fluent in English (C1 or higher); Spanish proficiency is a plus.
