WHO WE ARE

At NS/TX, our mission is to accelerate the transition to a sustainable food system. By developing purpose-built production technologies, we are creating the next generation of meat and seafood alternatives with better taste, texture, price and nutritional profiles, designed to appeal to the average consumer.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Director of Finance is a senior leadership role that reports directly to the CEO and sits on the executive team. You'll own the finance function and turn it into a venture-scale operation with strong fiscal discipline, accurate reporting and the strategic insight we need to scale.

This is a hands-on leadership role, but you won't be doing it alone. You'll work directly with our external accountant and bookkeeper, who handle day-to-day transactional work, so you can focus on oversight, strategy and decision support.

As the company grows, the right candidate has a clear opportunity to move into a more senior finance leadership role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly and year-end close, working with our accountant and bookkeeper to make sure reconciliations are accurate and on time
  • Keep the books clean and audit-ready for investor due diligence
  • Oversee R&D tax credits, year-end taxes, sales tax and local compliance with third-party partners
  • Review departmental budgets monthly and hold budget owners accountable

Treasury & Business Operations

  • Own cash flow management, treasury and cost accounting
  • Oversee financial processes for sales tracking, invoicing and procurement
  • Own the finance systems and tools, including QuickBooks and Float, and keep improving them
  • Advise the commercial team on pricing strategy, negotiations and customer terms

Strategic FP&A

  • Track cash runway and burn rate in real time and advise the CEO and leadership team
  • Build and maintain 1-, 3- and 10-year financial models
  • Lead monthly actuals-vs-budget variance analysis and turn the results into recommendations

Fundraising, Investors & Board

  • Lead the financial side of fundraising, including data rooms, pitch materials and investor due diligence
  • Prepare the financial sections of board reporting and present to the board as needed
  • Oversee monthly grant claims and their documentation

Scaling Operations

  • Work with the sales and marketing teams to refine product cost accounting and unit economics as production scales

  • 10+ years of professional experience after completing your education
  • Proven experience in a senior financial role, such as Director of Finance, Controller or Head of Finance
