Job Details

Position: Senior Coordinator, Health, Safety and Wellness

Location: MaRS Centre, Toronto

Department: Health, Safety and Wellness

Reports To: Senior Manager, Health, Safety and Wellness

Salary: Commensurate with level of experience; total compensation includes a competitive benefits plan, plus a defined benefit pension plan (HOOPP)

Hours: 35 hours/week

Job Type: Hybrid

Status: Full-time, Permanent

Position Summary

The Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) is seeking a Senior Coordinator, Health, Safety and Wellness (HSW) to work in the HSW Office within the Human Resources (HR) department. The Senior Coordinator, HSW will support the Senior Manager, HSW & Biosafety Officer in the effective and efficient delivery of health, safety, wellness and accessibility programs and initiatives. The HSW Office helps to ensure that OICR is compliant with health and safety-related legislation, promotes best practices in safety and sustainability and helps foster a healthy and safe work culture.

Position Responsibilities

  • Support the development, maintenance and implementation of Health, Safety and Wellness programs and initiatives
  • Monitor compliance with Health and Safety requirements organization-wide
  • Support safety committees
  • Work as a safety and wellness role model in compliance with OICR health, safety and wellness policies and programs as well as safety-related legislation, including the Occupational Health & Safety Act, and Human Pathogens and Toxins Act.
  • Contribute positively to OICR’s efforts in fostering a workplace climate of equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility.

Qualifications

  • Three (3) year community college program in Occupational Health and Safety, related discipline or recognized equivalent
  • Experience in research safety or related sector such as laboratory, healthcare or public services
  • Excellent writing, organizational, computer literacy, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
