Reports To: Senior Manager, OJGP
Salary: Commensurate with level of experience; total compensation includes a defined benefit pension plan (HOOPP)
Hours: 35 hours/week
Job Type: Hybrid
Status: Full-Time, Temporary (until March 2026 with the possibility of extension)
Position Summary
The Ontario Joint Genomics Program (OJGP) is a new initiative for a province-wide community of genome sequencing partner institutions who operate under a central administration to enable complete genomic knowledge to guide clinical management of cancer patients. The OICR Genomics Program is seeking a Project Coordinator to coordinate activities within the OJGP under the direction of the Senior Manager. The successful candidate will help with the initiation of the program, facilitate smooth, coherent service within the OGJP and will coordinate activities with external partners and internal stakeholders.
This position is temporary, full-time until March 2026 with the possibility of extension.
Position Responsibilities
- Assist in Coordinating OJGP activities, including preparing agendas, training materials, coordinating with outside vendors and sponsors as well as communications and IT teams to plan and deliver workshops and events as required.
- Provide timely assistance in responding to partner requests and incoming service requests.
- Prepare periodic reports as required by the Oversight Committee, Executive Committee or in support of OJGP central office initiatives as needed including financial reports to facilitate transparent auditing.
- Organize meetings and facilitate communication with stakeholders to ensure ongoing support for the OJGP model. Help establish provincial supporting working groups needed for continued oversight of OJGP and track their deliverables and milestones
- Maintain processes for facilitating communications and monitoring activities with partners and stakeholders in the OJGP such as portals for network partner services and a repository of shared protocols and other documents.
- Ensure that terms of contractual commitments and policies are being met.
- Assist in coordinating licensing agreements for shared IP developed through the OJGP
- Assistance in the development and delivery of additional back-office services as may be developed from time to time in response to the needs of OJGP partners.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor of Science minimum with an advanced degree (master’s) strongly preferred or recognized equivalent.
- Experience working in an academic cancer centre or university setting with some administrative and grant writing experience.
- Experience delivering excellent customer service.
- Excellent organizational, writing, and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with next-generation sequencing technologies and informatics platforms.
- Familiarity with formal project management concepts, managing tasks in Jira.
- Website content management (WordPress).
- Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
- Familiarity with Laboratory accreditations (ACD, CAP, CLIA, etc.) and/or with ISO requirements.
- Knowledge of the Ontario cancer genomic medicine ecosystem, including familiarity with key genomic sequencing laboratory heads and capabilities of different labs.
