Opportunity

The Business Analyst is an embedded member of one or two Scrum teams, working daily with Product Owners, Engineers and QA to ensure that backlog items are clear, actionable and ready for delivery. This role is focused on enabling sprint execution by translating business intent into well-refined user stories, maintaining backlog quality, and ensuring that requirements are understood, implementable, and testable within the team. The Business Analyst does not operate as a separate documentation function, but as a hands-on delivery partner within the Scrum team, contributing directly to backlog refinement, sprint planning, and delivery outcomes.

What you'll do:

Scrum Team Participation

  • Operate as a full member of up to two Scrum teams
  • Attend and actively contribute to:
    • Daily Stand-ups
    • Backlog Refinement sessions
    • Sprint Planning
    • Sprint Reviews
  • Work continuously with engineers during the sprint to clarify requirements and unblock delivery

Backlog & Story Ownership

  • Partner closely with the Product Owner to maintain a well-groomed, prioritised backlog
  • Translate business requirements into clear, concise User Stories with testable Acceptance Criteria
  • Ensure stories meet the team’s Definition of Ready Break down Epics into deliverable slices suitable for sprint execution
  • Maintain traceability between business intent and delivered functionality

Collaboration with Engineering & QA

  • Work daily with engineers to explain intent, edge cases, data flows and expected behaviour
  • Support QA in understanding expected outcomes and acceptance criteria
  • Assist with UAT preparation and execution when required
  • Ensure what is delivered aligns with business expectations

Analysis & Solution Design

  • Perform analysis at business, system and data level where needed to support delivery
  • Create lightweight diagrams and artefacts that aid engineering understanding (process flows, data maps, sequence diagrams)
  • Participate in solution discussions and document key decisions

Documentation & Communication

  • Maintain clear, concise documentation in tools such as Confluence/Jira to support the team
  • Communicate requirements and decisions effectively across stakeholders
  • Facilitate working sessions between Product, Engineering and stakeholders when clarification is required

Who you are:

  • 3+ years experience as a Business Analyst within Agile/Scrum environments
  • Proven experience working as an embedded BA in delivery teams
  • Strong experience writing high-quality User Stories and Acceptance Criteria
  • Deep understanding of Scrum ceremonies and sprint flow
  • Ability to support multiple Scrum teams without loss of quality
  • Excellent collaboration skills with Engineers, QA and Product Owners
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability at business and system level
  • Ability to simplify complex requirements into implementable work
  • Experience creating diagrams and lightweight artefacts to support engineering
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced delivery environments
  • Understanding of software engineering principles and system design
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence and backlog management tools
  • BSc in Computer Science, Engineering or related field (preferred)

The Interview Process:

Every role starts the same, an introductory call with someone from our Talent Acquisition team. We will be looking for company and values-fit as well as your professional experience; there may be some technical role-specific questions during this call.
Every role is different after the initial call, but you can expect to meet several people from the team 1:1 and there might be further skill assessments in the form of a Take Home Assignment/Case Study Presentation or Pair Programming/Live Coding exercise depending on the role. In your initial call, we will walk you through exactly what to expect the process to be.
