Scaling Precision Medicine with PhenoTips
At PhenoTips, we are transforming genetic medicine by helping healthcare providers seamlessly integrate genomic insights into patient care. Backed by top Canadian investors, leading healthcare institutions, and researchers, our platform powers precision medicine for health systems, clinics, and research organizations worldwide.
We are looking for a Genetic Workflow Consultant who brings deep expertise in genetic workflows and serves as an outward-facing subject matter expert across the customer journey. In this role, you will support the revenue team on new opportunities, partner with Account Managers to strengthen and expand existing customer relationships, and collaborate with Product and Marketing to ensure PhenoTips is positioned effectively in the market. You will represent PhenoTips with credibility while helping customers understand, design, optimize, and adopt workflows that improve care delivery.
This is a mission-critical role at the intersection of genetics, workflow consulting, customer success, product strategy, and change management.
Pay range: CA$80,000–$90,000. We understand that compensation is a large factor in evaluating opportunities. This pay range represents our target for the role, and is determined by market data, the planned responsibilities, and internal equity. Offers are usually near the midpoint, but the final amount may be adjusted based on your experience and skills.
One Year From Now, Here’s How You’ll Be Seen:
Your Team Sees You As – A trusted subject matter expert who brings genetics and workflow expertise into customer conversations, supports strategic opportunities, and helps cross-functional teams make smarter decisions about positioning, adoption, and value.
Customers See You As – A trusted consultant who understands their clinical needs and helps them solve real-world problems with PhenoTips. You add value at every stage of their decision-making and growth journey.
The Company Sees You As – A key contributor to growth and a subject matter expert. You bring a unique perspective that represents our customers to every interaction.
How You’ll Make This Happen:
Support New and Existing Customer Opportunities
- Support Account Executives on new opportunities by bringing clinical credibility and workflow expertise into discovery, solution positioning, and business case development.
- Partner with Account Managers to deepen our understanding of how customers work today by identifying workflow gaps, unmet needs, and opportunities to expand value within existing accounts.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for existing customers by providing product knowledge, workflow guidance, and targeted training that helps teams use PhenoTips effectively and confidently.
- Support change management and adoption efforts for existing customers by helping stakeholders navigate workflow updates, reinforce best practices, and improve long-term usage of the platform.
- Join customer meetings, workflow assessments, and strategic reviews to represent PhenoTips as the subject matter expert on genetics workflows and the needs of genetic counsellors.
- Help teams better understand prospective and existing customers by surfacing patterns, priorities, and barriers that inform stronger decisions across sales, success, and implementation.
Deliver Consultative Expertise in Genetics and Workflow Design
- Advise prospects and customers on how PhenoTips fits into their clinical and operational workflows, and where workflow changes would unlock more value than configuration alone.
- Lead workflow mapping and design activities end to end, from current-state discovery through future-state recommendations and planning connecting these changes with business and care outcomes.
- Act as the go-to expert on genetics workflows, including pedigree drawing, phenotyping, interoperability, and clinical documentation.
- Deliver training and support change management during implementation and go-live so customers successfully adopt the workflows we design together.
- Run post-implementation reviews to confirm adoption, identify opportunities for improvement, and recommend next steps that increase long-term customer value.
Partner with Product and Marketing
- Work with Product to translate customer workflows, unmet needs, and implementation learnings into roadmap input and validate proposed features against how genetics teams actually operate.
- Help Marketing target the right audiences and sharpen messaging based on direct knowledge of how genetic counsellors and other stakeholders evaluate software.
- Contribute to webinars, conference content, case studies, and campaigns where genetics credibility and customer insight are essential.
What You Bring:
We value continuous learning and potential. If you don’t meet every requirement listed below but have a passion for technology, a desire to grow, and believe you would be a strong fit for the role, we still encourage you to apply:
- 3+ years of experience in genetic counseling, medical genetics, or related clinical domains (rare disease, oncology, etc.).
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Genetics, Genetic Counseling, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in a sales, business development, or solutions consultant role; ideally in SaaS, health-tech, or clinical software.
- Strong understanding of clinical workflows and tools like pedigree drawing software, phenotyping systems, EPIC, Cerner, etc.
- Experience navigating extended healthcare sales cycles and influencing decision-makers across disciplines.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills; able to simplify complex information for diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated success closing deals or driving measurable sales growth in a consultative setting.
- Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable managing multiple priorities and stakeholders.
Bonus Points
- 2–4 years of proven success selling software, particularly in healthcare, genomics, or digital health.
- Experience using or supporting PhenoTips in a clinical or research setting.
- Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments.
- Skilled at navigating RFPs, procurement processes, and technical sales engagements.
Benefits and Perks
- Comprehensive health, drug, and dental coverage, plus a Health Spending Account and a Personal Wellness/Productivity fund to use on what matters most to you.
- We are primarily a remote-first team with flexible schedules. We value outcomes over clock-punching, and support genuine work-life balance.
- A $500 stipend to help ensure you have a comfortable and ergonomic home setup.
- Paid vacation, personal/sick days, and our favorite: extended long weekends throughout the summer.
- We get together for annual company retreats to bond, brainstorm, and celebrate our wins in person.
