About Phoenix

Founded in 2019, Phoenix is building the most trusted telehealth platform in Canada, making specialist healthcare accessible to every Canadian, wherever they are. Our platform breaks down barriers to care, empowering patients to take control of their health with personalized treatment options and the guidance of licensed providers.

If you thrive where big ideas turn into real impact, you'll fit right in here. We're a team of creative problem-solvers who move deliberately and collaborate in person, because we think the best work happens that way. At Phoenix, you'll find autonomy over your work, people who care about each other's success, and a mission that's making healthcare better for Canadians.

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to join us at a pivotal moment. You’ll take ownership of the next generation of our design system and visual language — across both the Phoenix and Raven brands — with significant responsibility over craft, direction, and execution. This is a high-autonomy role with high expectations — the kind of environment where great designers thrive.

You’re equally comfortable in the details of a component and zooming out to consider brand expression, motion, and systemic coherence. You care about how AI is changing the design-to-code pipeline and want to be at the front of that shift. And above all, you want to design things that genuinely improve people’s lives.

What You'll Do to Support Our Mission

Craft experiences that patient’s love

  • Design visually compelling, high-functioning user interfaces for Phoenix’s web and mobile products.

  • Lead and define principles that foster exceptional, patient-centred digital experiences across both brands.

  • Combine layout thinking with visual detail — delivering clean, cohesive, and system-driven design.

  • Work closely with motion designers to document micro-interactions and UI motion briefs that elevate usability and delight.

  • Ensure visual consistency and coherence across products through expert use of Figma and component libraries.

Evolve and own our design system

  • Lead the next version of our design system — raising the bar on structure, scalability, and documentation while preserving what works.

  • Apply UI best practices with strong command over page design, layout, and interaction visuals.

  • Maintain visual consistency across a complex and growing product ecosystem spanning two distinct brands.

  • Develop and steward brand expression within the product — ensuring Phoenix and Raven each feel coherent, distinctive, and alive.

Operate at the intersection of design and technology

  • Champion AI-assisted design-to-code workflows — leveraging tools that accelerate delivery without compromising craft.

  • Collaborate with engineers to ensure design intent is realised in production with precision.

  • Contribute to defining how people interact with AI-powered features at Phoenix and Raven.

  • Design and iterate on UX-provided wireframes, refining into production-ready UI.

  • Alongside our UX team, apply your expertise in navigation frameworks, product flows, and system-level thinking from a visual perspective.

Ship alongside great people

  • Work shoulder-to-shoulder with UX and Engineering in a tight, iterative loop.

  • Translate complex healthcare problems into clear, grounded design solutions informed by data and user insights.

  • Represent the design discipline in cross-functional meetings, helping unify strategic and experiential perspectives.

  • Build strong working relationships across product, engineering, marketing and leadership by leading with curiosity and confidence.

What Will Help You Succeed in the Role

  • 5+ years of experience in the design industry, with a focus on human-centred digital products.

  • A strong portfolio spanning a wide variety of digital products, services, and experiences — demonstrating range and rigour.

  • Deep expertise in design systems, including structure, scalability, and documentation.

  • Highly skilled in Figma, including shared libraries, plugins, and design system components.

  • Experience with AI-assisted design-to-code processes and a genuine curiosity for where this is heading.

  • Familiarity with motion design is a plus — experience creating UI motion briefs that guide engineering is an asset.

  • Strong understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles.

  • Demonstrated ability to design based on data and user insights.

  • A meticulous eye for detail and strong design aesthetic sensibilities.

  • Exceptional communication skills, and a passion for building highly successful working relationships.

  • Continued awareness of design trends and innovation — you’re always learning.

How You Work

You thrive in iterative environments where the brief evolves alongside the product. You’re energised by the challenge of taking something good and making it significantly better — and are comfortable making confident decisions with incomplete information. You operate independently, hold yourself to a high standard, and bring others along with you through clear communication and well-documented thinking.

This is a role defined by shipping. You work shoulder-to-shoulder with UX and Engineering in a tight loop. Endless review cycles and internal spinning aren’t your speed. You’d rather get something well-crafted into the world and learn from it. If the idea of your work reaching real patients, on real devices, on a regular cadence genuinely excites you, you’ll fit right in here.

This is not a role for someone who needs everything defined in advance. It’s for someone who defines things.

Why Work at Phoenix?

  • A Rewarding Mission: Through our asynchronous care model, Phoenix is reimagining patient-centric care for Canadians across the country by making diagnoses and treatment delivery faster, more accessible, and completely discreet.

  • Impact & Autonomy: You’ll work directly with passionate, experienced leaders who’ve seen the ups and downs of building a business and genuinely care about your growth. You won’t just execute — you’ll help shape the future of Phoenix and Raven.

  • Collaborative In-Office Culture: Based in the heart of downtown Toronto, our HQ team comes together on-site five days a week to build fast and push what’s possible. We love the fast feedback loops, spontaneous brainstorms, and actually knowing the people we work with. Bonus points if you’re into the occasional foosball tournament or have strong opinions about the best lunch spot in the neighbourhood.

  • Competitive Pay, Real Benefits: Our compensation bands are backed by real market data, so offers are competitive and fair. Our benefits package includes standard healthcare coverage, a remote-first holiday season, and holistic wellbeing support — such as a wellbeing allowance and flexible additional time off to care for loved ones, support mental health, observe meaningful religious and cultural holidays, or when life just happens.

Thank you for your interest in joining the Phoenix team! While we are lucky to attract a high level of interest in each of our roles, only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
