We’re looking for a highly talented and motivated Automation Technician to join our team and contribute to developing cutting-edge solutions for our core robotic manufacturing technologies. This role will be based full time out of our new state-of-the-art robotic homebuilding facility in Calgary with initial frequent travel to our Edmonton, AB facility for training purposes.

What you will do:
- Setup and execute controlled prototype equipment tests; identify, catalogue and report findings to Hardware & Software teams
- Collaborate with a dynamic technical team—including engineers, software developers, and designers—to evaluate, optimize, and enhance robotic manufacturing systems and processes
- Maintain and promote a safe and professional environment with a high level of safety awareness and compliance
- Identify individual components (both manufactured and purchased) and use them to create sub-assemblies for work cells, stations and other automated equipment
- Assemble, fit, align, plumb, wire, drill & anchor, and integrate workstations or systems that may include pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical sensing components, conveyor and feeder systems
- Rig and safely handle large equipment at our state-of-the-art robotic facility and also on-site at customer facilities
- Modify robot and PLC programs as required
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, service, and perform required repairs to automation equipment
- Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, genie booms, and overhead cranes
- Other duties as assigned
What you will need to succeed:
- College diploma or university degree (Robotics, Industrial Automation, Mechanical or Mechatronics)
- Experience with industrial robot programming, PLCs, and industrial safety systems
- Proficiency in mechanical assembly and/or wiring of machine components
- Willingness to participate in a variety of technical areas in both hardware and software as needed to solve complex problems and achieve business impact
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication and organization skills
- A positive “can-do” attitude and motivation to solve complex challenges
- Computer skills: Microsoft Office experience with intermediate skills in Excel and PowerPoint
- The ability to be on your feet for the majority of the working day
- The ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- The ability to travel internationally
- (Preferred) 5+ years of industry experience in leading, supervising or managing complex industrial robotics and system integration projects
- (Preferred) Experience integrating KUKA robotics is a great asset
- (Preferred) Experience with industrial low-voltage electrical systems
- Availability to support hardware, software, firmware, and system upgrades, including occasional evening and weekend shifts, ensuring seamless implementation and prompt resolution of any issues to maintain optimal performance and security of all automation systems
