We’ve recently begun production at our new state-of-the-art robotic homebuilding plant in partnership with several large homebuilders within the Greater Calgary Region. Powered by Promise Robotics' transformative production lines for timber-based panelized construction, the new plant enables our group of homebuilding partners to significantly increase the capacity and speed of home production within the fast-growing region of Calgary, AB.
We’re looking for a Plant Accountant to support the financial and operational accounting activities of our Calgary location. This is a hands-on role covering full-cycle accounting, month-end close, inventory and cost accounting, compliance, and procurement.
You’ll work closely with Finance, Operations, and Production to maintain accurate financial records, support reporting, and continuously improve accounting processes.
What you'll do:
- Perform full-cycle accounting, including journal entries, general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and discrepancy resolution.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, including accruals, prepaids, payroll entries, working papers, and financial reporting.
- Review AP and AR transactions and assist with vendor and customer reconciliations.
- Support inventory counts, reconciliations, valuation, Work-in-Progress (WIP) accounting, cost allocations, and variance analysis.
- Monitor manufacturing and project costs and support month-end inventory adjustments.
- Assist with payroll reconciliations, GST returns, regulatory filings, and external audit requests.
- Support procurement activities, including purchase orders, vendor onboarding, three-way matching, and open PO management.
- Partner with Operations and Production to support purchasing and inventory requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and support ERP/system enhancements.
What you'll need to succeed:
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a manufacturing, industrial, construction, or project-based environment.
- Hands-on experience with full-cycle accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Experience with inventory, cost accounting, WIP, or manufacturing accounting is strongly preferred.
- Experience using ERP/accounting systems and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Collaborative communication skills and the ability to work effectively across Finance and Operations.
- CPA designation or progress toward CPA is considered an asset.
