Outbound Product Manager, Advanced Product Designer (APD) & Integration Gateway
Product, Design
Toronto, ON, Canada
Job Description
What you’ll do
Across both product areas
Act as the Outbound Product Manager for two Guidewire Cloud Platform product areas: Advanced Product Designer (APD), including SBT-to-APD migration tooling and services, and Integration Gateway (IG).
Engage directly with customers, partners, and field teams to understand real-world product configuration, product modeling, and integration needs across the P&C lifecycle (policy, billing, claims, underwriting, and servicing), uncovering valued capabilities, areas of friction, and emerging use cases.
Synthesize market, customer, and field insights into actionable product opportunities and a prioritized set of outbound requirements that guide inbound PM, platform, and engineering investment.
Translate insights into clear positioning, value narratives, and enablement that drive adoption of APD and IG across customers, partners, and Guidewire delivery teams.
Represent APD/SBT and IG topics in customer meetings, advisory groups, workshops, and Connections sessions, communicating value and best practices to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Partner closely with Inbound Product Managers and other App Platform PMs, and collaborate with Architecture, Standards, Security, SRE, Professional Services, Enablement, Sales, and Marketing to align roadmap, customer readiness, and go-to-market execution.
Advanced Product Designer (APD) & SBT
Champion APD as the single source of product truth (“model once, leverage everywhere”) that generates UI, metadata, and Cloud REST APIs to power PolicyCenter, Jutro, Integration Gateway, and other Guidewire Cloud services.
Drive the outbound direction for APD feature enhancements, including product modeling, multi-state support, rules, content layering, and managed content delivery.
Own the customer-facing narrative and adoption strategy for migrating SBT commercial lines onto APD via “Safe Landing,” the one-time conversion path that produces Cloud APIs with no policy data migration and no product refiling.
Help shape the evolution from SBT 1.0 on PolicyCenter to an APD-centric, managed-content pipeline (SBT 2.0), gathering field input on conversion priorities (e.g., GL, WC, BOP, CP) and the platform dependencies needed to represent ISO-based content faithfully.
Integration Gateway (IG)
Position IG as the standard integration runtime for InsuranceSuite on Guidewire Cloud, articulating when to use IG versus direct Cloud APIs versus customer ESBs.
Represent the breadth of the IG platform to the field across API gateway and management, messaging and eventing patterns, connectivity patterns (including customer self-managed networks), observability, and developer experience.
Champion the end-to-end developer journey, from discovery and onboarding through design-time experience (APIs, events, contracts, tooling) to run-time monitoring and troubleshooting, and feed friction points back into the roadmap.
Partner with the Marketplace team to position and grow adoption of pre-built integration accelerators and Built-By-Guidewire IG apps, improving discoverability and attach rates for marketplace-delivered integrations.
What you’ll bring
We expect the person in this role to grow deep expertise in APD, SBT, and Integration Gateway over time. The qualifications below describe the background that sets you up to learn quickly, not a checklist of prior product knowledge.
Required
Strong ability to synthesize customer, market, and field input into actionable insights that influence product direction and go-to-market execution, which is the core of an outbound product role.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to clearly articulate customer needs and technical context to engineering, architecture, design, and cross-functional partners.
Working knowledge of integration concepts such as REST APIs, messaging and eventing (pub/sub, queues, retries), webhooks, and event-driven, batch, or file-based patterns, enough to ramp quickly on a Camel-based integration platform.
Working knowledge of product configuration or model-/metadata-driven systems, including how a product or domain model drives downstream UI, APIs, and behavior, enough to ramp quickly on a no-code product modeling platform such as APD.
Familiarity with cloud-native delivery concepts: multi-tenant SaaS, security and data privacy, versioning and lifecycle, and observability (metrics, logs, traces, dashboards).
Familiarity with the P&C insurance domain and/or core systems (e.g., PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ClaimCenter), or a demonstrated ability to ramp quickly on a complex domain.
Ability to collaborate effectively with Inbound Product Managers and cross-functional teams while maintaining a clear outbound focus on customer value, adoption, and usability.
Demonstrated ability to embrace AI and data-driven insights to drive innovation, productivity, and continuous improvement.
Comfortable presenting and facilitating discussions with diverse audiences, including customers, partners, and internal teams.
Excellent English speaking and written communication skills.
Preferred
8+ years of Product Management experience or equivalent in a customer-facing, technical role (e.g., solutions engineering, technical consulting, platform/integration engineering, or product modeling).
Bachelor’s degree in technology, computer science, engineering, or equivalent experience; Master’s degree is a plus.
Hands-on familiarity with Guidewire PolicyCenter / InsuranceSuite, including the product model and policy lifecycle (new business, changes, renewals, cancellations, endorsements).
Experience with product modeling, no-code/low-code configuration platforms, or insurance product authoring (coverages, conditions, exclusions, risk objects, jurisdictions, editions, effective dating).
Familiarity with ISO / bureau commercial lines content (ERC) and US Commercial Lines lines of business (e.g., BOP, GL, CP, WC, Commercial Auto, Crime).
Conceptual or practical familiarity with Apache Camel (routes, processors, EIPs, error handling, retries, idempotency) and with ESB / iPaaS products (MuleSoft, Boomi, Azure Integration Services, Kafka-based platforms).
Understanding of API lifecycle management, including versioning strategies, backward compatibility, and managing breaking changes.
Experience defining platform SLAs/SLOs and partnering with engineering/SRE on availability, scalability, and performance.
Ability to travel 5–15% as needed.
Your Impact
We believe in clarity and setting you up for success. In your first six months, you’ll immerse yourself in customer and market research across both APD/SBT and Integration Gateway, build strong cross-functional relationships, and deliver actionable insights that shape the APD roadmap, the SBT-to-APD migration strategy, and the adoption of IG as the standard integration runtime for InsuranceSuite. Your work will drive measurable improvements in customer adoption, platform efficiency, and product innovation, directly supporting Guidewire’s mission to deliver secure, scalable, and cloud-native solutions. Over time, your influence will extend across teams and customers, helping Guidewire set new standards for product configuration, integration, and customer value.
