Job Description

Role Overview

We are looking for a Digital Developer to join our PS – GDC Digital team in Kuala Lumpur. You will develop and enhance web-based digital experiences (e.g., quote & buy journeys, self-service portals, agent/broker portals) for insurers using Jutro, React, and InsuranceSuite Cloud APIs.

In this role, you will work closely with UX designers, business analysts, architects, and other developers to deliver high-quality, maintainable solutions that meet customer and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and enhance digital applications using Jutro / React / TypeScript / JavaScript / HTML / CSS based on UX designs, technical specs, and user stories.

  • Integrate digital applications with InsuranceSuite and other back-end systems using RESTful APIs, SDKs, and configuration.

  • Configure and extend out-of-the-box Jutro components, schemas, and design tokens to support customer brand, products, and business rules.

  • Participate in estimation, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and reviews as part of an agile project team.

  • Write clean, testable, and performant code; create and maintain unit tests (e.g., Jest, React Testing Library) for key components and flows.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve defects across development, stabilization, UAT, and warranty phases.

  • Collaborate with UX designers to ensure technical feasibility of designs and provide feedback on edge cases and constraints.

  • Work with integration and core product teams to design and consume APIs in a way that minimizes coupling and supports maintainability.

  • Contribute to project and technical documentation (e.g., design decisions, API usage, configuration notes, runbooks).

  • At Guidewire, we foster a culture of curiosity, innovation, and responsible use of AI—empowering our teams to continuously leverage emerging technologies and data-driven insights to enhance productivity and outcomes.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • 2–4 years of hands-on experience in front-end or full-stack web development.

  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript / TypeScript and a modern front-end framework — ideally React.

  • Solid understanding of HTML5, CSS3, responsive layout, and component-based UI architectures.

  • Experience working with RESTful APIs (consuming, handling responses, error handling, authentication).

  • Exposure to enterprise or B2B web applications; comfort working with complex business logic and workflows.

  • Familiarity with source control and CI/CD practices (e.g., Git, pull requests, branching, basic pipelines).

  • Experience working in agile teams and collaborating with BAs, QA, UX, and architects.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English; able to discuss trade-offs and explain technical decisions.

  • Demonstrated ability to embrace AI and apply it to your role as well as use data-driven insights to drive innovation, productivity, and continuous improvement.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with:

    • Jutro Digital Platform, or other design-system driven / schema-based frameworks.

    • Insurance, financial services, or other regulated industries.

    • Testing frameworks such as Jest, React Testing Library, or similar.

    • Cloud-native development, containers, or DevOps tooling.

  • Familiarity with P&C / General Insurance concepts (policies, quotes, billing, claims, portals).

  • Prior consulting / implementation project experience with external customers.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to work on regional and global digital transformation projects with leading insurers.

  • A clear Digital Developer learning path (Jutro, APIs, integration, certifications) and mentoring within the Digital Community of Practice.

  • Hybrid working model in Kuala Lumpur with a strong local GDC community and collaboration with global Digital and GSC teams.

  • Competitive compensation and benefits with room to grow into senior digital developer or architecture roles over time.
