About Rippling
Rippling gives businesses one place to run HR, IT, and Finance. It brings together all of the workforce systems that are normally scattered across a company, like payroll, expenses, benefits, and computers. For the first time ever, you can manage and automate every part of the employee lifecycle in a single system.
Take onboarding, for example. With Rippling, you can hire a new employee anywhere in the world and set up their payroll, corporate card, computer, benefits, and even third-party apps like Slack and Microsoft 365—all within 90 seconds.
Based in San Francisco, CA, Rippling has raised $1.4B+ from the world’s top investors—including Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, Sequoia, Greenoaks, and Bedrock—and was named one of America's best startup employers by Forbes.
We prioritize candidate safety. Please be aware that all official communication will only be sent from @Rippling.com addresses.
About the role
Join the Payroll Onboarding team, where we are dedicated to making a company's transition to Rippling's payroll system a smooth, efficient, and flawless experience. A customer's first payroll run is the single most critical moment in their journey with Rippling. Our mission is to make that moment feel effortless.
The user interfaces we build are the "front door" to Rippling's most important product. These surfaces have an outsized impact on customer activation and long-term success, and they require unique technical solutions. We’re solving complex challenges like building intuitive UIs for migrating massive historical payroll datasets, automating complex entity configuration, and creating resilient data validation pipelines that give admins instant, clear feedback.
You’ll be working on high-impact products that are a critical growth lever for the company. This is a chance to shape the future of a rapidly growing team, solve complex UI and data challenges, and build the experience that introduces every new payroll customer to Rippling.
What you will do
- Write Exceptional Code: Build scalable, maintainable, and high-performance frontend components and systems that power a company's entire payroll setup.
- Build Elegant Product Experiences: Think creatively about product solutions to tricky design and user problems. How do you make migrating 5,000 historical paystubs feel simple, safe, and intuitive?
- Drive Architecture & Design: Own frontend architectural decisions (e.g., state management, validation frameworks) and guide the full product lifecycle, from ideation to production.
- Move Fast, But with Precision: Deliver high-quality features quickly, balancing development speed with the extreme accuracy and safety required for financial data.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to gather customer feedback, refine the product roadmap, and build resilient end-to-end flows.
- Mentor & Lead: Support the growth of junior engineers by sharing your expertise and promoting engineering best practices across the team.
What you will need
- 5+ years of experience in frontend development with React or TypeScript.
- Backend Knowledge: Experience with backend technologies such as Python, Django, or Node.
- Technical Expertise: Strong grasp of computer science fundamentals. You’re comfortable working with complex systems, asynchronous state, and data-intensive applications.
- Product Focused: You’re not just a coder—you care deeply about the end user, product design, and delivering an intuitive, polished, and trustworthy experience.
- Entrepreneurial Spirit: You thrive in a fast-paced environment. You don’t just solve problems—you identify them, own them, and create solutions that have a lasting impact on customer success.
