About Rippling

Rippling gives businesses one place to run HR, IT, and Finance. It brings together all of the workforce systems that are normally scattered across a company, like payroll, expenses, benefits, and computers. For the first time ever, you can manage and automate every part of the employee lifecycle in a single system.

Take onboarding, for example. With Rippling, you can hire a new employee anywhere in the world and set up their payroll, corporate card, computer, benefits, and even third-party apps like Slack and Microsoft 365—all within 90 seconds.

Based in San Francisco, CA, Rippling has raised $1.4B+ from the world’s top investors—including Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, Sequoia, Greenoaks, and Bedrock—and was named one of America's best startup employers by Forbes.

We prioritize candidate safety. Please be aware that all official communication will only be sent from @Rippling.com addresses.

About the role

As Rippling rapidly expands upmarket into the Enterprise and Strategic segments, high-quality data onboarding has become one of the most critical parts of our customer implementation experience. Our customers bring complex, high-volume, multi-system data sets that must be transformed, validated, and migrated into Rippling with speed, accuracy, and consistency.

The Senior Manager, Data Specialist will lead and scale Rippling’s Data Specialist team in Bangalore — a function responsible for the data imports, conversions, transformations, and quality checkpoints that power successful enterprise implementations. You will set the strategy, build and develop leaders, operationalise world-class data processes, and double the team as we prepare for significant growth.

This is an exciting opportunity to build a technical, high-performance team from a relatively early stage. You will shape the standards, workflows, and operational infrastructure that define how Rippling handles customer data for years to come. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable diving into the details of data operations, coaching managers and senior ICs, collaborating with cross-functional partners, and driving long-term scalability.

What you will do

  • Build, scale, and lead the Data Specialist organization in Bangalore, including hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and developing people managers and senior ICs.
  • Set the strategic direction for Rippling’s data operations, including process design, quality standards, throughput expectations, SLAs, and tooling requirements.
  • Operate as the functional owner for all data import, conversion, validation, and data-quality processes within Implementation.
  • Partner closely with Implementation, Product, Engineering, and cross-functional teams to identify systemic data challenges, propose solutions, and drive alignment.
  • Create and implement operating rhythms, dashboards, and reporting structures to measure quality, volume, efficiency, and capacity across the team.
  • Lead root-cause analysis on recurring customer data issues and drive remediation in collaboration with Engineering and Product.
  • Drive automation and tooling innovation — leveraging advanced spreadsheets, Python, Retool, or other technologies — to reduce manual work and scale throughput.
  • Serve as a key stakeholder for enterprise implementations, ensuring data readiness, accuracy, and risk mitigation for high-value customers.
  • Establish and reinforce a culture of accountability, ownership, operational rigor, and customer-first thinking across the team.
  • Shape the long-term organizational design, roles, and growth pathways for the Data Specialist function as we continue to grow rapidly.

What you will need

  • At least 8+ years of experience in data operations, implementation, professional services, analytics, or a related technical function — including experience handling complex customer data workflows.
  • 3+ years of experience managing managers or leading teams at scale in a fast-growing environment.
  • Deep experience with data imports, conversions, ETL/ELT workflows, data validation techniques, and working with large, complex customer datasets.
  • A demonstrated track record of building or scaling high-performing teams, including hiring, coaching, and developing senior talent.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, using data to diagnose issues, identify trends, prioritize initiatives, and make decisions.
  • Expertise in designing scalable processes, quality controls, and operational systems in environments with high throughput and high accuracy expectations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex problems and lead conversations with cross-functional leaders.
  • Experience with automation tools (e.g., advanced Google Sheets/Excel, Python, Retool, scripting, Playwright, or similar) is a strong plus.
  • A customer-obsessed mindset with deep empathy for implementation teams and enterprise clients navigating complex onboarding.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and drive clarity, structure, and momentum for your team.
