At RWI Synthetics, we’re not just hiring for a job - we’re inviting you to join a movement. Forget everything you think you know about interviews or hiring. Our process is designed to get to know you - your dreams, your passions, and how you envision shaping the future. Through a series of conversations, we’ll ensure this relationship is equally beneficial - for you and for us.

Who We Are

At RWI, we’re reimagining what’s possible by tackling some of the world’s most significant challenges - disaster readiness, decarbonization, sustainable growth, and inclusive communities. We combine cutting-edge technology, storytelling, and collaboration to create solutions that build a more equitable, sustainable planet.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and contribute to innovative projects that deliver real-world impact.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to create solutions that exceed expectations.
  • Combine creativity and technical expertise to tell compelling stories with data.
  • Participate in team education, knowledge sharing, and process improvement.
  • Champion the vision for crafting synthetic populations that illuminate current obstacles and uncover opportunities for fostering inclusive growth.
  • Connect with clients to understand their gaps and translate them into a complete, robust and thoughtful synthetic population solution.
  • Lead the creation and enrichment of synthetic populations, ensuring accuracy and thoughtfulness of demographic, geographic, and economic diversity.
  • Integrate static datasets (eg., census data, infrastructure grids, demographic attributes) into population models and enhance their value for downstream applications.
  • Build non-generative models to supplement and enrich synthetic populations during key phases of the modeling process.
  • Synthesize and integrate infrastructure data, such as grids, transportation networks, or utilities, into population datasets to ensure realistic, actionable outputs.
  • Ensure differentiation and accuracy in synthetic populations by applying advanced enrichment methods and validating results.
  • Work with external data sources to integrate new static attributes and ensure datasets align with organizational goals and applications.
  • Collaborate with technical modelers and simulation experts to ensure synthetic populations meet the specific needs of dynamic simulations and advanced modeling.
  • Design workflows that allow synthesized data to serve as the foundation for diverse business and simulation use cases.
  • Develop scalable and sustainable solutions that enable RWI to build robust synthetic population data assets.
  • Maintain a curated catalog of data sources, evaluate their quality, and ensure they align with project goals and applications.
  • Establish and document standards for synthetic population creation, ensuring outputs are reusable and scalable across projects.
  • Develop and maintain workflows for automating static data enrichment and integration, streamlining synthetic population generation.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, ensuring a cohesive and collaborative approach to synthetic population development.
  • Align project activities with available resources and budgets, ensuring high-quality outputs while maintaining efficiency.
  • Communicate project results and population insights to both technical and non-technical audiences, tailoring outputs for stakeholder needs.
  • Contribute to public awareness through company media, LinkedIn posts, and use cases highlighting the value of synthetic population modeling.

What You’ll Bring

  • Completed education in a quantitative field such as computer science, data science, engineering, mathematics, or a related discipline. Advanced education or a focus on population modeling, GIS, or data synthesis is an asset.
  • Experience leading projects in data modeling, data integration, or synthetic population creation, especially with teams from diverse professional backgrounds.
  • Ability to provide thoughtful and clear feedback to project members and remain curious and humble while brainstorming new ideas.
  • Ability to manage difficult conversations to address delivery disruptions and scope creep.
  • Ability to synthesize complex datasets into clear, actionable outputs and enrich them with static attributes.
  • Passion to deliver results that are not only accurate but also impactful and aligned with real-world applications.
  • Experience presenting results and insights to stakeholders, explaining technical details in a way that resonates with non-technical audiences.
  • Project management skills that ensure timely delivery and alignment with budgets.
  • Project design experience - ability to understand client needs first and design the project backwards from there.
