Description

Are you passionate about improving the healthcare system?

Are you excited to help accelerate the shift to digital healthcare?

Would you love to help hospitals adopt a new digital health solution?

If your answer is “Yes!” to the above, we may be the perfect fit for each other!

Our mission is to ensure every patient gets the right care at the right time.

Who is SeamlessMD? We are a diverse team of healthcare providers, technologists and industry professionals pioneering a new category of Digital Patient Engagement. We’ve been named a Global Top 100 Company in Digital Health and an OMERS Top 100 Canadian Health Tech Company. We have raised $7.4M from leading Canadian investors, including MEDTEQ, Hikma Ventures, AIoT Health, Tony Lacavera (Founder, WIND Mobile) and Sanjay Malaviya (Founder, RL Solutions).
What is SeamlessMD? Much of healthcare is still delivered through paper and verbal instructions, with no easy way for providers to monitor patients and catch problems sooner. Staying connected with patients virtually is more important than ever. To address this, SeamlessMD provides the #1 digital patient engagement platform for hospitals and health systems to engage, monitor and stay connected with patients across their health care journey (e.g. surgery, chronic care, etc.). Patients are guided on smartphones, tablets and computers from preparation through recovery with reminders, education and progress tracking. Providers receive alerts, monitor patients on dashboards and access analytics to deliver better care. SeamlessMD is also the 1st digital patient engagement platform with turn-key integrations with Epic and Cerner — the two largest Electronic Health Record systems. In 2026, we released Seamless Answers, one of the first production available AI-enabled patient conversation agents to help patients with their care plan with hospital/health partners across North America.
Who are our customers? Leading hospitals & health systems such as Sunnybrook, North York General Hospital, UC Davis Health and Yale Health Systems use SeamlessMD to elevate the patient experience, improve health outcomes and lower costs. We are in use in over half of larger health systems/hospitals in Ontario and operate across Canada and the United States.
How does SeamlessMD improve patient care? Patients experience less anxiety, are more prepared for their healthcare journey and are more confident during recovery. 15+ clinical studies have shown SeamlessMD to reduce hospital recovery times by 1–2 days, hospital readmissions by up to 72% and ER visits by up to 47%. This means patients are healthier and the healthcare system is more efficient!
As a Security Engineer, you will work closely with our engineering team to support the day-to-day operation, security, and reliability of the systems that power SeamlessMD. You will contribute to maintaining our cloud environment, supporting connectivity with hospital networks, and helping monitor and triage security signals across our cloud and endpoint surfaces. Your work will involve hands-on configuration, security investigation, and clear written communication. You will collaborate with engineering, operations, and external stakeholders in a fast-paced environment, helping deliver the operational foundation that keeps a healthcare platform running safely and reliably.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Cloud Operations: Assist with day-to-day operations of our Azure and GCP environments, including services, networking and access controls, ensuring reliability and security.
  • Assist with EHR Integrations: Help troubleshoot routing and firewall issues, coordinate with external hospital IT teams, and support ongoing connectivity work.
  • Monitor and Triage Security Signals: Review cloud security posture findings, triage endpoint detection alerts, investigate suspicious activity, and assist with remediation.
  • Assist with Identity & Access Monitoring: Help review identity and access alerts, gather context, and escalate anomalies for the team to investigate.
  • Support Security Operations: Help with access reviews, log gathering, vulnerability tracking, and other routine security operations tasks under guidance.
  • Communicate Effectively: Regularly update the team on progress, surface blockers early, and contribute to discussions about how we can improve our operational processes.

Required Skills & Experience:

Technical Proficiency:
  • Hands-on exposure to at least one major cloud provider (GCP or Azure preferred; or AWS)
  • Comfort with Linux and command-line environments
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals: DNS, TLS, VPN, routing, and firewalls
  • Exposure to core security concepts: IAM, logging and audit trails, common attack patterns, and basic incident response
  • Familiarity with version control (Github) and ticketing/agile tools (JIRA)
  • 2+ years of work experience with software engineering with a focus on security and networking
  • Exposure to security fundamentals (OWASP top 10), and experience using penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, and static/dynamic code analysis tools
  • Nice to have: Security in the context of deploying AI systems and usage of AI to identify risks
Desired Skills & Experience:
  • Interest in Healthcare: A passion for healthcare innovation and interest in the operational and security challenges of running clinical software at scale.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to clearly explain technical concepts and findings to both technical and non-technical audiences, including external IT teams.
  • Problem-Solving Mindset: Curious and resourceful approach to investigating unfamiliar systems and unclear signals. Side projects or homelab work that demonstrate hands-on interest are great to share.
  • Comfort with AI Tools: Familiarity with using AI tools (Claude, Cursor, etc.) as part of your workflow, with a sense of where they help and where they don't.
  • Regulated Environment Exposure: Any experience with HIPAA, SOC 2, or other compliance frameworks is a plus.
  • Bonus Tools & Platforms: Exposure to cloud security posture tools, EDR/endpoint protection platforms, SIEM workflows, or Pulumi/IaC.
  • Team-Oriented: Comfortable working collaboratively in a fast-paced, startup environment.

Why You Should Join Us:

  • Impactful Work: Help operate the infrastructure and security foundation behind a product that directly improves patient care across hospital systems.
  • Real Ownership: Get hands-on with cloud, networking, and security work in a regulated environment.
