Location

Mostly (70%) in person, where the candidate is expected to work out of our location on Western University’s campus in London (Ontario, Canada), with some virtual work (30%).

Duration

12-month contract, with possibility of extension.

Anticipated Start Date

August 28, 2023 (start date can be negotiated).

Time Commitment

Full-time (40 hours/week), hybrid in-person and remote position.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be a self-starter, who is motivated, energetic, and passionate about their work. They will contribute to integrating the mechatronics and machine learning components of the Tenomix device. As part of our team, you will:

  • Follow and build out the Tenomix software development lifecycle using sound software design principles.
  • Design software in compliance with related standards for Medical Devices.
  • Design and develop embedded software for Tenomix’s current product.
  • Be responsible for hardware / software integration and verification during initial phases of design and development.

Job Responsibilities
  • Follow and build out the Tenomix software development lifecycle using sound software design principles, as well as implementing and driving best practices for coding, testing, and deployment.
  • Work with others across the organization, including mechatronics engineering, machine learning department, clinical affairs, and business development to think beyond the technical implications of design decisions.
  • Design and develop embedded software in compliance with related standards for Medical Devices.
  • Hardware / Software integration and verification during initial phases of design and development.
  • Design of experiments, design, create, and codify test protocols, and record results in reports.
  • Further design and develop the UX/UI for Tenomix’s current product based on end-user feedback gathered during usability testing.
  • Produce and/or provide updates to communicate design goals, achievements, or current results to Tenomix’s senior management.
  • Mentor and support the growth of junior software developers and interns.
Required Skills
  • 5+ years of hands-on Software Development experience using C# and python.
  • 5+ years of experience with Product, Design, and Engineering to prioritize, scope, design, and deploy software.
  • Ability to formulate and articulate opinions on product design and engineering issues with a focus in finding the most effective solution.
  • Strong technical background in software design principles and best coding practicing.
  • Working knowledge of embedded programming and hands-on experience with embedded devices.
  • Experience with software version control systems.
  • Experience with Agile software development.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to convey software development concepts and information in an understandable manner to individuals from different (non-software development) disciplines.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as work efficiently as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy when completing tasks.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to learn and open to feedback.
  • A track record of providing mentorship and technical leadership.
Nice-To-Have Skills
  • Understanding of design control in a regulated industry with experience working with the IEC 62304, ISO 13485, or equivalent quality standards.
  • Experience with medical imaging technologies like ultrasound.
  • Basic user experience and user interface (UX/UI) design skills.
  • Strong organizational skills to succeed in a fast-paced and evolving work environment.
  • Ability to comprehend biomedical/health sciences-related topics.
  • Contributing to open-source software.
Education

BS in Software Engineering or Computer Science, or relevant work experience.
