Financial Planning & Analysis is a team of finance professionals dedicated to providing high-quality information, analysis, advice and financial stewardship to help management teams in making decisions, managing resources and meeting operational and strategic goals.

Our team is responsible for the annual operating planning process, multi-year financial forecasting model, PowerBI and development of new reporting tools, administrator for Workday Adaptive Planning, Qlikview, and Azure database, compensation planning & analysis, internal and external reporting and analysis of results, including the Trial Balance submission, SRI and statistics. We are responsible for ensuring high data quality, implementing controls and process improvements, supporting benchmarking and analysis, financial and staffing modelling tools, and providing administrative support to clients including onboarding of new managers and administrative assistants. Here's What You'll Get To Do:

General

  • Perform accounting, financial and statistical reporting, and analysis
  • Learn and master the skills and knowledge of the applications and tools available to support analysis and requests efficiently
  • Identify, lead and implement opportunities for improvements, including processes, controls, efficiencies, accuracy, data quality, and other
  • Lead and participate in projects, task groups, initiatives and committees as required to provide financial and business expertise
  • Lead and / or assist in completing selected external reports on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
  • Develop and update documentation for all related processes and support financial literacy across the organization
  • Handle ad-hoc requests or assignments

Financial Reporting

  • Provide financial expertise and leadership within the department and across the organization in matters relating to financial reporting and analysis
  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis and commentary of financial results
  • Investigate opportunities for mitigation of issues identified through financial analysis
  • Prepare required analysis as part of the annual yearend audit
  • Assist in managing key financial drivers including international and out-of-province revenues, service contracts, utilities and contingencies to ensure accurate accounting, forecasting and reporting
  • Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of necessary controls, policies, procedures, and systems for the financial control of the Hospital and the safeguarding of assets
  • Contribute to and complete external reporting ensuring adherence to reporting standards and timelines
  • Support the Key Inputs process during the planning and budgeting cycle
  • Provide administrative support to clients, including onboarding of new managers and administrative assistants

Here's What You'll Need:

  • Strong attention to details
  • Self-starter with strong desire to look for opportunities for improvements in processes, reports, data accuracy, etc.
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Critical thinking skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent computer skills with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and experience with large databases and reporting tools
  • Experience with PeopleSoft, Workday Adaptive Planning, Power Query, PowerBI and Qlikview an asset
  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail within a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Adherence to confidentiality policy for sensitive financial and clinical information
  • Demonstrated commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion objectives

Education and Experience

  • Recognized accounting designation or actively completing the final level (CPA, CMA, CA or equivalent) is required
  • Healthcare industry and specifically hospital experience is an asset
  • Knowledge of Ontario Healthcare Reporting Standards (OHRS) is an asset
  • Undergraduate degree in Business or Accounting
  • Minimum of 3-5 years professional relevant experience
