We are currently looking for a Nurse Practitioner with expertise in Pediatric Emergency Care to join our inter-professional team. This is an exciting opportunity to help us redesign and implement our strategies to improve patient flow and care delivery in the Emergency Department. By working with our leadership team, you will help to create a model of inter-professional care and excellence that will meet the needs of our patients, their families, the community and our health care team now and in the future. You will use your creativity and knowledge to plan, develop, and implement this strategy and model.
As a Nurse Practitioner you will provide leadership and promote excellence in family-centred nursing care through the five main role components of expert practice, education, consultation, research, and being a leader/change agent.
Here's What You'll Get To Do
- Integrate nursing and medical skills and knowledge within a broad scope of advanced nursing practice.
- Assume a leadership role in influencing clinical nursing practice and the provision of care.
- Engage in clinical practice in varied areas of the emergency department.
- Complete history and physical exams, order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests, request admission and discharge paediatric emergency department patients.
- Shape the balanced delivery of care through the integration of research and leading practices into care protocols that improve quality and efficiencies in practice.
- Engage in active Nurse Practitioner role definition and promotion within the ED setting.
- Provide care across a continuum and balance quality care delivery with efficient, focused and streamlined care within a multidisciplinary team.
- Assess and care for patients of varying levels of acuity.
- Test and evaluate the NP role and a new model of care against patient outcomes, efficiency measures and teamwork.
Here's What You'll Need
Essential
- A Master of Nursing or equivalent with a clinical focus.
- Completion of a Primary Care or Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program or equivalent.
- Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario within the RN (Extended Class) in good standing.
- A minimum of three years of clinical nursing experience in the paediatric emergency department setting.
- Demonstrated involvement in the successful implementation of an interprofessional model of care focused on integrating a Nurse Practitioner into the care team.
- Demonstrated ability to be a visionary and to provide leadership, act as a change agent, and foster teamwork and consensus building.
- Demonstrated ability to be an innovative critical thinker with excellent communication, public speaking and problem solving skills.
- Knowledge of theoretical frameworks and research application.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and experience advancing EDI objectives
Assets
- Previous experience as an advanced practice nurse in an ED setting is as asset.
