Position Description:

The Toronto Region Board of Trade (The Board) is seeking a Director, Member and Partner New Business to support the Board’s membership and partnership revenue strategy. Reporting to the Vice President, Business Development, this role is responsible for developing and cultivating a partnership pipeline to support the Board’s programming and has an annual revenue target of ~$300K-500K.

The Director, Member & Partner, New Business will work collaboratively with internal program teams to identify sponsorship and partner engagement opportunities that help drive the Region’s economic growth agenda and support efforts to make the Toronto Region one of the most globally competitive business regions in the world.

Key Responsibilities:

Revenue Generation:

  • Drive revenue growth through the development of new business partnerships and sponsorships.
  • Meet or exceed an annual revenue target of ~$300K-500K.
  • Create tailored proposals and presentations to secure new partnerships and sponsorships, demonstrating a deep understanding of prospects' objectives and aligning them with TRBOT's value proposition.

Pipeline Development:

  • Develop and cultivate a robust partnership pipeline to support the Board’s programming initiatives.
  • Identify, prospect, and secure new members and partners to achieve annual revenue targets.
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify potential partnership opportunities and trends.
  • Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and meetings to promote partnership opportunities.

Collaborative Engagement:

  • Work collaboratively with internal program teams to identify and create sponsorship and partner engagement opportunities.
  • Foster strong relationships with existing and potential partners to enhance engagement and long-term collaboration.

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve membership and partnership goals.
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations to the Vice President, Business Development, to enhance revenue strategies.

Reporting and Analytics:

  • Track and report on partnership sales activities, pipeline status, and revenue performance.
  • Utilize CRM tools to manage and analyze member and partner data, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.

People Leadership:

  • Manage, coach and support 1-2 direct reports
  • Provide leadership and direction to the commercial team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

Role Description:

  • Supports the VP Business Development in developing new business, partnership and sponsorship sales assets.
  • Responsible for leading the development and cultivation of the Board’s master partnerships pipeline, including our World Trade Centre-Toronto (WTC-T) assets.
  • Leads the partnership sales tracking and reporting process.
  • Works with the Board’s Membership and Communications groups to develop partnership sales materials.
  • In collaboration with the VP Business Development, is responsible for implementing a Lead Generation Process.
  • Implements and reports back to VP Business Development on quarterly Objectives and Key Results.
  • Supports the Technology Services team in developing new business processes within the Board’s CRM system.
  • Provide periodic business and competitive intelligence and insights for VP Business Development.
  • Lead the collaboration of several functions within the business to develop key cross-functional revenue driving initiatives.
  • Conducts new prospect research and provides briefs as needed to internal stakeholders.
  • Oversees the smooth transition from New Business to Member Success team.
  • Manage, coach and support 1-2 direct reports

Your experience includes:

  • An undergraduate degree or diploma in sales, marketing, business management, or related field
  • 10+ years of proven success in sales, partnerships, business development or related field, ideally in a B2B environment
  • Demonstrated ability to interface with all levels of management, both internal and external
  • Proven track record of driving growth through strategic partnerships and sponsorships.
  • Skilled ability to build and maintain long lasting relationships with clients, members and colleagues.
  • Experience in leading teams positively and effectively.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, results-oriented organization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
