Position Description:

The Toronto Region Board of Trade (The Board) is seeking a Senior Manager, Information Technology and Business Applications. Reporting directly to the Senior Director, Information Technology, this role is responsible for upkeep of IT infrastructure, including networks, systems, and security and business applications.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong technical knowledge who can lead teams effectively while staying current with emerging technologies and industry trends. They should be able to balance technical expertise with business acumen to drive organizational success through technology innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Operations:

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise-wide infrastructure, including networks, servers, security systems, business applications and cloud platforms.
  • Establish IT policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure efficient operations, security compliance, and business continuity.
  • Direct the evaluation and implementation of new technologies to improve organizational efficiency and capabilities.
  • Manage disaster recovery and business continuity planning to ensure minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Technologies:
    1. Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Teams, CRM, Power BI, Business Central etc.)
    2. Azure – hosting, Web App, Azure Front Door, data pipelines
    3. Function apps for API end point integrations (data warehouse, events registration system, CRM, financial system)
    4. Event Registration Platform

Security & Compliance:

  • Develop and maintain information security protocols to protect organizational assets and data.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOX).
  • Lead security audits and risk assessments to identify and address potential vulnerabilities.
  • Oversee incident response procedures and security breach investigations.

Project Management:

  • Direct major IT projects from conception through completion, ensuring alignment with business requirements.
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources (internal and external) to ensure successful delivery.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams and stakeholders (internal and external) throughout project lifecycles.
  • Monitor and report on project progress to Senior Director.

Your experience includes:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive IT experience with at least 2 years in a management role.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading enterprise-wide IT initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of current technology trends and emerging solutions.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, results-oriented organization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Expert knowledge of IT infrastructure, including networks, systems, and security.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure)
  • Understanding of ITIL frameworks and IT service management principles
  • Strong strategic planning and execution capabilities
  • Expert problem-solving and analytical skills

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position with 4-day in office.
  • May require occasional evening and weekend work for system maintenance or emergencies.
  • On-call availability for critical system issues.
