Position Description

Reporting to the VP, World Trade Centre – Toronto, the Manager, Business Development WTC builds and grows WTC-T's referral, corporate and international partnerships in support of all trade, growth and AI programming (including TAP, CEA, Global Growth and the AI Business Catalyst). The role drives referrals, sponsorship revenue and global reach through relationships with economic development organizations, member organizations and associations, corporate partners and sponsors, and international counterparts, including WTC-T's membership in the World Trade Centre Association (WTCA).

This is an individual-contributor role with no direct reports. It operates within a matrix where resources and priorities are shared across WTC-T, so strong cross-functional collaboration is essential.

The World Trade Centre Toronto (WTC-T) is the trade services and scale-up arm of the Board. Its goal is to deliver best-in-class programs to help businesses build plans to accelerate their trade and growth and to foster a community of international business practitioners.

Role Description:

Referral & Ecosystem Partnerships

  • Develop and manage referral and recruitment partnerships with the economic development ecosystem, private member organizations and industry associations that introduce qualified companies into WTC-T programming
  • Build a structured network of referral partners with clear mutual value, and track partner performance across all programs

Corporate Partnerships & Sponsorship

  • Identify, pitch and secure corporate partners and sponsors in support of WTC-T's trade, growth and AI programming
  • Oversee delivery of partnership and sponsorship agreements, and support renewal and growth of existing relationships

Events

  • Evaluate external events, conferences and trade shows (domestic and international) and recommend an annual calendar based on partner, sponsor and referral potential
  • Represent WTC-T at priority events to generate partnership and sponsorship conversations, tracking leads and follow-up in CRM
  • Coordinate with Marketing on event presence (booths, speaking, collateral, promotion) and report outcomes to inform future investment

International Partnerships & WTCA Membership

  • Build and oversee WTC-T's international partnership network, including trade organizations, chambers and counterpart World Trade Centres
  • Own WTC-T's WTCA membership, leveraging the network to support programming, partners and referral flow; host international delegations as needed

Relationship Management & Targets

  • Build and maintain relationships with senior leaders across corporate, association, economic-development and international partner organizations
  • Own targets and pipeline forecasting for partnership, referral and sponsorship activity
  • Maintain disciplined CRM and follow-up: track every partner, next action, source, stage and status
  • Feed partner and market intelligence back to Marketing and Programs, and coordinate with TRBOT Communications and internal teams on program amplification

Your experience includes:

  • Demonstrated B2B business development experience, with a focus on partnerships and sponsorship
  • Experience engaging C-suite and senior decision-makers across corporate, association and economic-development organizations
  • Confident public speaker, comfortable presenting WTC-T's value proposition on panels and at partner events
  • Track record of meeting partnership, referral or revenue targets, with disciplined CRM and pipeline management
  • Effective user of technology, including AI, to manage a complex partner network at scale
  • Proven ability to collaborate and influence without authority in a matrixed, entrepreneurial organization
  • Experience with economic development organizations, trade associations or international networks is a strong asset; additional language fluency is an asset

Compensation & Benefits

TRBOT is committed to fair, equitable pay that matches the responsibility and expertise behind every role.

This role has an annual salary range of $75,000 to $110,000.
