Status: Temporary, Full-Time (18 month contract)

Position Summary

The Senior Finance Manager, Major Projects is responsible for supporting the operating finances of Ministry Funded Major projects while adhering to all UHN policies, regulatory requirements and audit accountabilities to maintain appropriate internal and financial controls.

Duties

Role will support the development of an operating budget and completion of the post construction operating plan (PCOP), and other Ministry submissions for funding of new MOH projects through the following key accountabilities:

  • In collaboration with clinical stakeholders, coordinate, facilitate and prepare as required, operational modelling and their financial implications to support the design of new build projects
  • Lead and coordinate the preparation of operating budget for the new TW Tower and other MOH funded projects
  • Manage monthly reporting of transition costs to budget ensuring controls over project performance in coordination with clinical stakeholders
  • Coordinate with Case Costing, Decision Support, FM-PRO, and others as required, the inputs for the PCOP, Training & Start-up Costs, and other Ministry submissions as it relates to the operation of the new MOH funded projects
  • Financial business partner for the Clinical Co-sponsors of Major Projects
  • Facilitate liaison between both Capital Project teams and Clinical Finance and the portfolios they support
  • Support and advise on business cases and strategies to achieve optimal outcomes for hospital spending and decision making.
  • Provide education and training to staff and key stakeholders
  • Manage and perform funding and costing analysis for all major projects, making recommendations for optimal balanced position.
  • Manage and perform impact analysis of hospital clinical initiatives

Qualifications

  • CPA designation
  • 5 - 8 years related experience
  • Financial experience in health care is definite asset
  • Previous experience implementing organizational change
  • Demonstrated presentation/training skills are essential
  • Ability to explain complex issues in plain language both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent technical skills in excel and financial systems
  • Experienced in management reporting and MOH capital projects of complex nature and multimillion-dollar value
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Hospital MIS Guidelines and Reporting System is an asset
  • Successful candidate should have demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with strict deadlines and ability to find solutions for difficult problems and well-organized with an ability to conduct effective meetings. Also exhibit sound judgment, tact and diplomacy along with the ability to work in a changing and complex environment
