Hours: Variable
Salary: $28.64 - $29.52. Start rate non-negotiable.
Shifts: Weekdays, Monday to Friday
Status: Casual

Position Summary
The Schroeder Arthritis Institute is the largest multidisciplinary arthritis hub in Canada, integrating medical, surgical and basic science aspects of Hand, Orthopedics, Osteoporosis and Rheumatology with a goal of making a global impact in discovery, learning and patient care.
Duties
- Provide patient admitting/registration function, receiving/registering patients/visitors coming in for tests/procedures and/or appointments
- Provide patient administrative services, organizing and maintaining patient charts, electronic and paper information filing systems
- Provide reception responsibilities of answering, screening and triaging telephone calls
- Perform unit administrative services ensuring efficient operation of the unit, within scope of authority
- Scheduling patients for tests, special procedures and/or urgent/emergency appointments
- Following established procedures to ensure the efficient flow of patient/patient appointments providing routine clerical support services
Qualifications
- At minimum, completion of a post secondary certificate up to 1 year in Office Administration or recognized equivalent
- General knowledge of office practices, process and procedures
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Experience working in a health care environment an asset
- Knowledge of a second language an asset
- Six (6) months to 1 year experience using computer applications or health information system required, i.e., EPR, MS outlook, PHS
- Must be able to read and understand sort notes, brief forms and/or instructions
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and/or divide
- Knowledge of another language, an asset
- Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to UHN standards
- Exercise initiative and good judgement with ability to multi-task
- Compliance with confidentiality requirements under UHN Privacy Policy
- Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies
- Client service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to handle difficult patients/situations
