Position Summary
The Collaborative Academic Practice portfolio at UHN lead the synthesis of Health Profession Practice, Education, Research and Leadership in service of enhancing Patient Experience, Patient Safety and Health Outcomes.
As an important member of the CAP portfolio, this role reports to the Senior Manager, Strategy and Transformation. This role is responsible for collecting and analyzing data, drawing insights from data and forming recommendations to support the broader CAP portfolio. The successful applicant is highly motivated, detail-oriented, and skilled with analyzing data as well as presenting analysis in multiple formats or various audiences. The successful applicant is a strategic thinker with an interest in working at a system level and can tactfully manage stakeholder expectations.
Duties
- Support the collection of data, including advising and helping design the best collection tools, from key stakeholders
- Build tools and templates to enable senior teams across the portfolio to make informed decisions (i.e. PowerBI Dashboards)
- Leverage skills to manage data efficiently and support portfolio data and reporting needs
- Translate data and insights into clear and compelling presentations, reports and briefing materials
- Support broader department with data needs, including analysis, interpretation, and recommendations
- Consistently produce clean, efficient, well-documented code as required (i.e. using R or similar languages to assist with analyzing data)
- Produce analysis and recommendations from insights gained from data
- Produce data in presentable ways (i.e. PowerBI Dashboards, PowerPoint Presentations etc.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree Computer Science, Business or similar, Master’s preferred
- Experience working with PowerBI, scripting languages (i.e. “r”), MS Excel, data analytics and data interpretation
- Strong ability to manage time and tasks effectively in a high-demand professional office environment, with a focus on shifting priorities throughout the day
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to work through ambiguity and distill complex information into actionable insights.
- Advanced data analytics skills and experience with the ability to build models in Excel and other data tools
- Excellent decision-making capabilities, judgment and independence to coordinate complex tasks
- Experience working within health care an asset, preferably in a hospital environment
- Superb organizational and time management skills and the ability to multitask effectively and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Outstanding customer service skills, excellent organizational and planning
- Ability to work proactively and independently
- Skilled in building high-quality PowerPoint presentations tailored to senior audiences.
- Proven adaptability to varying roles and responsibilities as the needs and priorities of the position evolve
- Demonstrated ability to build successful working relationships with all levels of staff
- Insightful, mature and tactful; able to remain calm under pressure and confidently take ownership of responsibilities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to provide leadership and advisory services to assigned staff; provide staff with technical and procedural guidance, direction, and on-going coaching
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in producing work, including statistical data and metric tracking, while maintaining and adhering to established priorities
