Position Summary
Together, the Sprott Department of Surgery Program and the Department of Anesthesia & Pain Management make up the largest, comprehensive surgical program in Canada across 13 divisions, tackling some of the world’s most complex surgeries and toughest medical problems. With our vision as “World Leaders in Surgery”, quality and patient safety is essential. The Sprott Centre of Surgical Quality and Safety leads a range of quality and safety initiatives across the three surgical campuses (Toronto General Hospital, Toronto Western Hospital, and Princess Margaret Cancer Centre) to drive safety, experience and continuous improvements. The Centre plays a key role in supporting UHN in achieving the highest levels of safety and quality care, and in making meaningful and measurable progress towards zero preventable harm for patients and staff.
The Sprott Centre for Quality and Safety is looking for an experienced professional to fill the key role of Quality Improvement Research Analyst.
This Research Analyst position will work closely with the Quality and Safety Medical Leadership and QI Specialists as part of a close-knit interdisciplinary team.
Duties
- Participate in initial project design in alignment to QI methodology, setting of research goals, selection and development of procedures
- Support the preparation of Quality Improvement Review Committee (QIRC) or research ethics applications or for new studies, grant and proposal writing
- Participate in data analysis including application of statistical analysis techniques
- Assist or lead in the interpretation of results and preparation of material for presentation, publication, and/or minor grants
- May present at conferences
- Writes and critically appraises manuscripts of team
- Conducts regular reviews of relevant literature in the field of study
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree and 3 years of related experience is required
- Comprehensive knowledge in the ethical conduct of research with human subjects
- Experience using statistical analysis and data management software applications, required
- Familiarity with Quality Improvement projects, research and methodologies
- Experience within the healthcare industry is an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong scientific writing and presentation skills proven through publications and presentations
- Demonstrated record of interdisciplinary collaboration
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) STATS software
- Familiarity with Statistical Process Control Charts (SPC) encouraged (ie. Familiar with QIMacros or similar)
- Experience with UHN, RFS research administration and finances, grant services an asset but not required
- Experience with REDCap is an asset
